Squiddey (VR Only)

Squiddey is a VR-only Motion controller-only SteamVR-only Squidroguelike-like-like!

Only tested on the HTC Vive but should work fine with a 360 standing setup Rift+Touch.

(Note: since you can only teleport to adjacent tiles and diagonals sometimes you'll end up with a dead end against a wall, you're gonna have to put your head through the wall and teleport inside... The level generator was built without many safeguards so levels may be hacky at times...)

The game looks and runs great! Your little squid guy looks amazing, as do the little dudes you shoot at. The core idea is a lot of fun, though as you said the level generator made lots of dead ends and impassible sections.

I feel like the projectile that the bats shoot is a bit too fast to reliably dodge, you're better off just constantly moving your hand. I also was not a big fan of the "hold the grip" to move, makes much more sense to just use the touchpad on your off-hand or even the trigger. I was essentially holding grip the entire time. I didn't get very far, as the level I was in seemed to have no way to continue (couldn't get close enough tot he walls to look through them.

Still, the character and the idea itself was really great!

Funny little game. Had fun playing it. It crashed 2 times when I left the main menu.

Graphics were great, the UI and UI polish was great. I like how you can use the application menu button to press a UI button repeatedly. The first time I tried (10 rooms) I couldn't play (FPS of around 2-5), but when I put in 5 rooms it played just fine.

The bats death animations made me feel bad for killing them, idk if that was intentional or not... but it made we sad to see them in pain with their eyes closed.

I really liked the grid based teleportation system... it allows for some classic tile based navigation in a VR space. Very clever.

Good work putting this together. I enjoyed playing it, thanks for making it!
