Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

The little Soldier Ant got stuck in the trash bin, and must find his way back to ant civilization. Shoot your way out of the pit of trashy horrors to reach the top and be free.
Mouse to aim, left-click to shoot
WASD or Arrows to move, Space or UP to jump
As simple as that. This is our first game together so it was a great learning experience.

Fun game, interesting to play. I like very much graphics
Uhm, after dying for no apparent reason I couldn't restart the game, but for what I played it was kind of fun.
I noticed an interesting solution: the farther you point the gun, the faster bullets fly. Is it intended or you made it by accident?
Also, restart button doesn't work
Congratulations for your first game guys! ^-^ I think it has a lot of merit considering it was developed in a jam, good work!
Cute game! Loved that it was beatable, unlike so many games.
I like the ant animation and the idea of beiing in the trash. On the other hand I would animate the background move, those jumps feels kinda wierd. Also shooting throught the terrain felt kinda strange and I was missing some kind of healthbar or some indication about why / how I died.
I really liked the mood of the game! It actually reminded me of those old charming Pixar movies. But the gameplay seems to be lacking in at least some kind of difficulty. You can basically stand on one place and shoot pretty much in one direction. The idea is very good and cute but the execution could be a little bit better :c But for the first game it is definitely a solid entry! Keep it up guys :D
Hmm i just stood in the one place holding down fire the whole time. I think you might need to think through the gameplay a bit more. Music was nice but not sure it suited the game. The jerky background movement was odd and I'm not sure why I was moving up, was it a timer, or was it the dead bodies piling up underneath me. What were the enemies?
This is a fairly solid base prototype that you could expand upon if you wanted with things like more levels (I 'beat' the game and escaped first try).
As others have mentioned, the fixed step movement of the background is quite jerky, and makes the game 'feel' less polished than it is - I think using some sort of smoothing or lerping for its movement would make it 'feel' a lot nicer
I'd like to believe this is what happens in real trash cans.
I like the graphics quite a bit, well done.
As others said, you can really expand on this concept. For example, add reloading, special abilities, etc. But as it is now, it is a solid entry.
Thought the background was glitching out at first, but it's actually a really nice take on the theme. Game itself was a bit limited, but fun none the less :)
