Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

And the Chocolate Factory

by TheFlakes - Jam Entry

You recently bought a chocolate factory, just to find it empty!

In each level, you need to create certain types of chocolate bars in certain paces.

The ingredients are supplied to you through the gray-boxes.
The final product must be put inside the drain (the moving blue lines at the right hand side of the screen)

Arrow keys - move
Mouse - buy/sell machine
E - pick up/place machine
Q - pick up/place/drop ingridient/product
A+D - rotate held machine (if there is enough room)

Developers - Ittai Rubinstein and Tom Kalvari
Assets -
Font - FreeMono

Thanks for playing :)

Fun game! The controls are really intuitive and the mechanics are interesting.

I really enjoy this, but I had some confusion with the mechanics.
A drag-and-drop system would have helped a lot, it ended up being kind of like sokoban near the end.
It was difficult to tell where and how ingredients transferred from one object to another, and I think this could be helped by making it grid-based.
Just some suggestions, because this isn't that far from being really great.

I think making just a mouse interface would have been better as I struggled many times trying to move conveyor belts around and rotating them around to try other factory designs. Besides that, it was pretty fun!
I didn't really knew what to do at first, but it was fun to experiment and figure it out! Great job!

really nice concept but the controls are little confused
Move with arrow Buy with click mouse pick up with e/q it's really hard to understand that

My view may be biased, because we did a similiar game for this jam, but:

I get you tried to go for something original regarding the controls, but it didn't work out (at least for me). The issue is that you can get blocked while placing something, and can't move. Also, the rotating mechanic is kinda wonky -- especially combined with the small factory.

If it weren't for the screenshots, I wouldn't figure out how to make Milk Chocolate Bar.

And it sucks you can't change resolution or run the game in fullscreen.

I like the core idea behind the game, but as others have said, the control scheme is quite awkward, which prevents the gameplay experience from being really engaging the player. I think one possible approach would be to focus on the automation side of things rather than having the player running around doing things, as I feel that the automation is core to the game, whereas the player running around is less so.

Awkward controls, nice idea for a game. Although not an original idea, but what is really.

Hello there! There is a nice idea behind the game, but I just had big troubles playing it. I guess my AZERTY keyboard didn't helped much on that point!

Mechanics are fun to use, and even if it's hard to figure out at first how to get things done, it's working fine after all.

I thought the game was a bit confusing on how to set up your chocolate factory.

I'm experiencing occasional crashes when buying new items, that's preventing me from getting very far in this. Having to drag the table back and forth in the first level isn't really enthusing me either, I'm afraid...

Good game.

Entertaining game, I was a little confused at first but I got the hang of it after awhile.
