Neural Escape

I'm a neuron. My host is gonna kill me. I have to make the right choices to get out of here.

Neural Escape is a turn based puzzle game where you incarnate a neuron that wants to get out of its brain. To do that you have to choose the correct items at the correct time, when you can.

This is my first game ever and I very much liked the process of doing it.

It is quite hard to understand what's going on, maybe add some help explaining the items? (or change the text on the bottom to dynamically explain what the hovered item does)

You forgot to include your data folder in the windows download.

The game feels unfairly difficult, I won on my fifth try but I didn't feel like I accomplished anything. On other runs I got stuck in a small 2x1 room, not being able to unselect items and direction was really annoying

(especially when you got the switch direction item) which was a shame because there was a nice tron-like aesthetic with the audio and graphics.

Pretty interesting game. I liked the board game feel when you have to take an item - even if it's bad for you. Found it very hard to get through though.

Controls are not very clear but once I got them, I noticed that the game mechanics are actually very interesting. Thanks for the game!

Innovation: Original gameplay and a creative presentation of it.
Fun: It's pretty fun to play through a few times. It does feel heavily luck-based but I guess it gives it a roguelike feeling (without such a big feeling of loss when I lose in a roguelike).
Theme: Yes.
Graphics: Simple but appropriate. Since you had icons for the options on the right, I would have liked icons for the neuron and the exit. Also you could animate the icons moving down each turn because it took me a while to figure out how they worked.
Audio: I like the choice of sounds, it creates tension.
Humor: I laughed at the idea of a neuron trying to escape from its owner!
Mood: The sound and graphics go well together and suit the game, nice job.
Overall: Creative and interesting game! I enjoyed it. This was your first game ever?? That's a little upsetting.
Minor suggestions: (i) A couple of times I got to the end with 0 turns left, and it gave me the death message? Would have been nice to "win" in that case. (ii) Since I have to press the "play" button to confirm, it would be nice to be able to change my choices before that point.

Good concept. A help is really neaded in this game, it takes some time to understand what's happening. I don't understand how the compass works, one time it selected the opposite direction of the exit. Anyway, good job.

Dude great game! Really enjoyed it. Nice non-annoying sound, cool feel, interesting mechanic. Just needs a bit of balance, maybe a bit easier (at first) and less luck based. Well done :)

This game was really fun to play. I like how you have to think thoroughly for your next move, makes you really think. With a bit polish to the game and it could be a really nice game. Overall a fun game to play. Keep it up!

It is quite an interesting mechanic, but the presentation is lacking. I wish I could change my selection, locking it in only introduces a bit of artificial difficulty (in my opinion).

The game also needs a bit of balancing. As in, sometimes I spawned directly on top of the exit, or it was right next to me. Sometimes it was on the other end of the map. Sometimes I would get -1 turns on both my item choices, multiple times in a row. Maybe you could have an actual progression by starting with small levels, maybe even completely visible, so that the player understands what each item does.

Again, the mechanic is quite interesting!

Definitely an interesting take on the maze-game. I've never seen something like this. The game felt a bit luck-based, as it was really hard to figure out what the optimal strategy was, or where the items were even coming from.

Quite fun to play once you figure out what you have to do. I really liked an unusual and somewhat roguelikesque (is it a word?) approach to the labyrinth game. Maybe a bit too random though.
