Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
You jump around trying to avoid the falling boxes that the evil game will throw at you. Also you can't touch the ground.. (not suitable for boxes). This game includes box cruelty, proceed with caution. Fullscreen is f11, resize the window freely! Also, @reach8bit to contact me.

Gameplay was pretty good. I kept getting a game over when I would restart the game because the player would immediately drop through a gap but I like the concept. You didn't do much with the theme though. It's just a simple room with blocks falling. Good job though I enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed your game. Its very challenging (for me almost too challenging. Maybe showing a little idicator of a block that is about the despawn or so?!)
The Music was very fitting.
All in all a good game with a lot of room to grow.
Works on Wine, but I think something is wrong with the gem counter. Nice and enjoyable gaem, quite challenging, but please do something with the instadeaths.
Cute game! Nice tunes, nice game-play. Would be good to see it developed a bit further.
All of your requests have been fixed! This includes the following :
1) Instadeaths are fixed!
2) Full controller support.
3) Added an indication to the blocks that are about to be destroyed.
4) Fixed gem counter.
5) Changed the pitch of the jump sound that made it sound like a glitch
6) Added gem counter in game.
7) Made more precise collision calculated for the player.
8) More gem drops (yay!)
9) Changed (a bit) the box spawning algorithm.
Thanks for playing!
Also, the music is made by Mortistar (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNrF2EMO1_JF0hvwGvFywHg) give him some love!
New and probably the last update that I am going to push before the jam ends. Thanks a bunch for your support!
The update includes :
1) Fixed the anti aliasing on the letters.
2) Changed the player sprite (a bit).
3) Changed game over screen to display " press a to continue " on consoles.
Actually quite enjoyed this game, i found the controls slightly clunky and often the gems fell right through to nothingness, or were crushed by other blocks. not bad though could be adapted in to a full game i reckon.
Nice atmosphere/graphics, but the rubies blocks came fast, so they are hard to avoid (or catch before they go through the floor)
It's a little hard to tell whether a falling object is a block or a ruby. It would be nice if that were more clear so you could plan your movement. Perhaps some additional effect or speed change?
The "best" strategy to me seems to be to stay in one area and avoid falling blocks instead of trying to venture out for rubies, even though that's less fun. It might be worth thinking about something to force or encourage the player to use more of the playfield.
Probably the most fun game I've played so far this ludum dare, very difficult but also fair. It's not super unique, but it's well executed and presented.
Nice game! I think there's a bug when the rubies fall in between 2 blocks. The player won't fall to collect it.
@breno Thanks! This is actually not a bug, just the player is too fast to get exactly to the x position between the two boxes and just passes without falling. It should be easy to fix it by using acceleration.
Funny little game. Quite addicting. Felt myself improving quickly, which is always a good sign. The music really made it.
Short and sweet. This is a simple concept well executed. The visuals are simple, but that goes with the simple gameplay. The music is also killer. Great entry!
A really simple game, but it is challenging and complex enough to be fun. I found the controls a little unresponsive, I think it was because I was trying to jump slightly after I fell off blocks, it would probably be nice to let the player jump slightly after falling to give them more control. Also, because the blocks fall so fast, it might pay to give a flashing warning sign or something when they're about to fall.
Very challenging, but fun and addictive. It would be awesome if it had online high score(which isnt that hard to implement, http://dreamlo.com/ for example).
Simple addictive little game ! I went up to 9 rubies also :p
Controls are perfect !
Easy to pick up and fun to keep playing. Add some progression and maybe a couple more basic mechanics and sell this on itch for a few bucks!
Nice and colourful, jumping physics felt a bit iffy but other than that it was alright.
loved the music, the game is addictive and the idea behind it is very fun! Could have done with a pause menu though, as I had to die to start recording and I would have loved a way to exit the game without killing the process. However, still very nicely done!
Simple, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/uJPQ-kT6kvQ
