Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

This game has been done for ludum dare 37. Theme was One Room, I want to place 2 guys into a room and defend it from Zombies... But when I think more about it, they needed a reason to be there at the mountain cabin.
So Blackback Mountain has emerged from one of my favorite movies!
This is a single player game, your buddy is AI controlled. You get health by touching your partner!
Edit: Before Jam timer runs out (5hrs+), as this is a jam game I returned to game to correct control problem. While there I had to add a few fx to exploding walls. I should have also add sound to them most probably.
All in all still this is my baby!

nice work, really cool how the zombies broke through the walls. the controls were a little hard to get used to tho.
I know I should change it to twin stick shooter style most probably. But it is an experiment. Though It is annoying to fight with controls right :S
This game is quite good. It needs an overall polish, and better controls though.
Anyway, thanks for making this game
Thanks guys! As it is a jam game(mine) should I polish the control to twin stick? oh hell ... there is more than 7 hours :D
I still hope it is not breach of rules though.
Whow great mood! I also like how you have AI controlled buddy who is essential to surviving (due to this innovative mechanic of healing when touching your buddy). Really well done and polished game. Good job!
Very nice game. You managed to create an eerie atmosphere very well
I like the music and the mood, though sometimes the bullets seemed to pass through the zombies without killing them and the controls were pretty hard, also the friction made it harder to move, maybe some work on acceleration friction stuff would work, it was nice though, the concept is fun
Nice game, great characters :-) Light effects of the shots were cool. Was surprised the character shoots when choosing menu item (nice!) Also the splattering of blood end pieces of the walls flying around were a nice touch!
Getting health from your partner while close was really cool, made we want to keep him safe and stay by his side until he was inevitably devoured by zombies.
I'm not sure but I think when selecting "Continue" it starts you from the beginning but shows the name of level you were last on. Like I continued from "The Final Day" and beat it really fast like it were level one, then the survival mode was completed as if it were just another level and loaded the next with no name anymore.
Being able to shoot on the in-between scenes was a great touch.
@Zemmi .. hmmm . You know it might be but if it's same level it means I have fuxked up somewhere in my zombie counter script. I am not next to my pc so can't confirm it yet. Thanks for playing the game though. Another idea of me was making absurd jokes to each other while killing zombies. But I have run out of time. I might just add it after voting is finished. :)
Added webGL for easier testing. It is lacking post-processing FX as it is WebGL but other than that it is same game. I found there is a bug about the counting of the dead zombies but I will not touch the code until voting ends.
As others have said I had trouble with the aiming and capsule hitboxes. With a little more work this could be a fun little game, maybe even a heartbreaking love story as well! "I wish I knew how to quit you" BibleThump
@TitoMakaniJr thx yeah. I tried to keep light hearted but original movie is a sad one for sure...
I haven't actually seen Brokeback Mountain, so perhaps a big part of the game is lost on me :(.
Some remarks:
- The bullets didn't seem to go quite where I aimed (even if I waited for the gun to remain to the horizontal position), maybe due to playing on 5:4 aspect ratio (1280x1024)
- Gun sounds were pretty grating
- Too easy to strafe around the horde while picking up the zombies on the outskirts of said horde
- Recoil sometimes made it seem like bullets were indeed passing through the zombies, maybe at close range they actually were passing through
- Graphics were decent, but sometimes the lighting would bug out and make the whole room a lot brighter than usual
- Cutscenes repeating felt a bit cheap
- The last two levels were great as they had enough zombies to really make the situation feel desperate
Still, it was fun for at least a single playthrough. Good job!
@nassi yeah you are right. Actually the body is rotating to the floor. I should have an invisible targeting mesh at 1 unity above the floor so my ray cast would point in the right direction + as I said it is the body rotation and not the gun! So gun is actually aiming a little bit right side of the target O.o I assume it is the cherry top of a jam game though.. Bugs bugs bugs everywhere! And thx for feedback
Great feel to the game and was fun to play! Would be great multiplayer for sure, a lot of potential!
Nice entry, i had fun, even with the aim problem, great work on the shadow and light effect.
Overall, i had a good time playing it !
your menu buttons for the most part do not work and THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD. I like the faces on your cubes and wish I knew what was the purpose of the hearts XD
@Dejvo @Mirta000 @Stending thx for playing the game! Yeah this game full of bugs but I am out of time (Literally) in real life. I still love as a first ludum dare fruit! I will check your games too (soon)
Very interesting concept, but there is some problems with shooting accuracy
Great work, like others have said it needs a bit of polishing but otherwise great!
I had feeling that those bullet fly through enemies without doing anything to them as if they fly over them. And second thing that they did not fly to the point im was aiming but offset a little bit to direction of hand holding the gun.
@Xesenix.. I would have said you are wrong. But you are right. Some bullets fly above their heads because your arm is raising(ricochet) with every shot. And yeah aiming is little off :D Because I rotate body to reticle (not the gun) resulting a weird offset because of distance of arm from body! Thx for feedback and play!
Really neat concept! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/sgVfFX3jjXQ

Cool concept- I have a weak spot for zombies. The player characters are pretty funny though I had trouble aiming, and none of the buttons seemed to work on the main menu.
All in all, great work and I'd like to see this taken a bit further!
