Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
Made in 30 hours (pure) for Ludum Dare #37 (One Room)
You were flying on your way back home, but got entrapped into mage's room, which is called "Loop of Eternity"! Now you have to defeat various spaceships in a rogue-like game with always increasing difficulty and fun!
Core mechanics of the game are the "Slow-Motion" and gun's "Overheating" effects in conjunction with the powerful Shop upgrades!
Controls:
Esc - Pause + Access to the Shop (don't forget to visit it!);
Hold Space - shooting;
Shift - Slow-Motion on/off;
Up/Down Arrow keys - movement;
Tools I used:
Krita + Inkscape - Art;
GameMaker: Studio - Code;
Bfxr.net: SFX
And, I hope that it's not cheating (I mean, there are many games nowadays which use tracks from the Net even not on a temporary basis), I picked a royalty-free background music (Rynos Theme) from here: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?collection=33&Search=Search
If that's prohibited, let me know and I'll re-upload the game without it.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed!
I believe that your problem is appearing because you are playing WEB version (I've deleted it from links now) and it's bugged as hell (for no real reason, GM:Studio just made it silly for me). Try the Windows download link if you're still interested, it's not as bugged :)
Cool idea! I like that looping feature, really innovative. The ship could be a bit better at the start, or the enemies take less bullets, as it is very hard to clear the loops before upgrading the ship.
To tomdeal:
Thanks! I'll try to fix it next time! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed!
Amazing job, I have lots to say.
Most importantly, I really appreciate you kept it simple. You had a main, small mechanic and milked it for all it was worth. That's one thing I wish most indies would stick to, as keeping these games simple really allow room for polish and graphics, and you nailed that.
The feel was nice, the controls are responsive. The ships' designs are very nice and I genuinely enjoyed playing. Although I don't feel the shooting sounds really fit the style, I certainly wasn't bothered by them and the music was fantastic. It's hard to believe this was made in 2 days, great job :)
To HawkSandwich:
Thank you for such a detailed comment! :)
Unfortunately, I had to make all the music in the last hour with bfxr.com. I'll definitely change it (hire somebody to create tracks) if I continue working on the game, this is just a temporary state :)
Loved the graphics, enjoyed it a lot, you should continue working on it and create more content :D
Nice game. Liked the turning mechanics. I liked the cooldown on the weapon as you had to consider your shots more carefully.
Nice game! Really good graphics and sound! I think shooting backwards would be also nice.
Using ready made art and sound assets for the compo (royalty free music included) is indeed cheating. I'd suggest you turn off the audio rating category. The auto generated sound effects are nothing to write home about, so you won't really lose anything.
I do like the design quite a bit. It helps that it is challenging, unlike some other entries I've played so far.
The only issue I have with it is the controls. "Enter" is used to select menu items and "Esc" is used to open the menu. To use these keys you need to move your hands away from the main keys, that is not optimal. I'd add "Space" as an alternative key for menu selection and "S" as a new hotkey for opening the shop directly.
The shop GUI is also a bit weird. Pressing left and right scrolls between upgrades, but the upgrades are not on a horizontal line, but rather in a grid. I would keep the grid, but allow the arrow keys to select up and down as well. In this new scheme, "Space" purchases an item and "S" closes the shop.
Overall a good job, with minor UI issues. They don't break the experience, but do make it slightly annoying.
To siryakko:
Thanks a lot! I'll indeed keep working on it!
To Thijs Tak:
Thanks! I hope that I'll improve the cooldown to make it even more important.

Thank you for such a useful comment!
I'll definitely do something with the UI when I get back to work on this game.
Nice graphics, together with effects and sound this feels nicely juicy!
I was a bit confused with navigation in shop menu though.
Very nice graphics, has a nice feel to it.
Here are the (obvious) possible improvements: [1] Add some visual cue as to how much health remains. [2] Some kind of scoring system. [3] A little longer room, seems it switches too often for my taste.
Keep up the good work.
Fun game!
Funny Controls.
sounds are good.
It would be nice if at the start the amount of bullets you can shoot where higher, but maybe its just me.
Good work
Very cool. I like the feedback and art, the concept is very crazy too. Simple and efficient.
Maby the shop could be on the Gameplay screen.
To mitkus:
Thanks! I'll do something about the controls soon)
To KaiseanGames:
Thanks for the reply!
1) The health is represented by the cracks and when you go to the pause menu using Escape button.
2) The score is shown at the end of the game, but I admit that it's quite poor and I just didn't have enough time to implement it better.
3) I'll see what I can do about it, thanks!
To WizzardMaker:
Thanks for the comment! You can increase the cooling of your guns in the shop, which will in result give you more bullets to shoot.
To lepatryckduffy:
Thanks, I tried to make it as simple as possible yet to keep it fun! :)
Easy shoot'em map. Try to add more action. Now playing is pretty boring, but in general it's not so bad. But idea with looping is good.
Awesome concept and great execution. The chosen mechanics work well with the concept and the visuals add to the overall experience. I would keep working on this if I was you, it has potential.
Good job!
I feel like screen shake is a bit overused, it should be less noticeable on shooting(but that's just my opinion)
also shop ui was too hard to get to, it should be 1 button press max, not a whole main menu navigation
overall cool finished game, game mechanics worked well
The graphics here are easily my favorite thing about this game. It's really impressive that you were able to do those within the time available. I like the idea behind the mechanics, but I'm a bit less sold on the actual gameplay.
Very nice and fluid game. I liked the controls and the way it was set up going back and forth.
Beautiful game, the graphics are very nice and gameplay feels smooth. Unfortunately the store felt a bit awkward to use.
Really good work done on this game, nice graphics and good concept !!! I just found the beginning a bit slow until you can buy the first cooldown, horizontal moves were also a bit slow imo.
Survived 27 loops. :D
Good job, it was nice to play this game !
Great work and well implemented :D
Big fan of the clean art style
Good surprise! Excellent feeling of control and feedbacks (camera shaking, sounds, effects). Good replay value :)
I missed the shop the first time, but it sure is better with it!!
Very cool take on the sidescrolling shmup genre, the cooling element and short levels gives it a kind of puzzle-like feel. It is a very fun mechanic, though it took me a while getting used to, being a trigger-happy guy :) Graphics and sound are both very polished.
Nice one! Yet I'm not sure it's really fun to play it for a long time, kinda too repetative.
You have an upgrade system! Balling!!! Very cool little air-shooter! I had a bug with getting stuck in slow-down mode throughout my 14-life loops. Thanks for the fun!
Also, thanks for playing our game! The "dinosaur" painting is an Easter-Egg commencing Roaring Cat Games first LD Jam, Sneaky Nessie.
Really nice horizontal shooter! Feels very smooth and reactionary, especially with how the ship moves and firing, not to mention the cooldown feature on the gun itself. Great job!
Lovely graphics, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/_uiGr8frPv8
Pretty fun little game, graphics seemed nice and audio fitting. Shooting seemed a little buggy when switching sides but maybe there was supposed to be that delay? Anyway nice work.
Wow, pretty neat.
I really like the side switching. It is quite a refreshing change from other shoot 'em ups.
Well done.
very well done. I really like the idea of looping in the room. graphics were nice and the gameplay was nice. well done.

Fun little game! Looks nice, plays nice (except you can only shoot left), sounds good.
Allowing the player to shoot a few more times would be nice and an extra layer of enemies would too so the turning point doesn't take too long.
Good job
