Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Artifact Dash

by arhpositive - Compo Entry

This is a 2v2 Pacman inspired game made for Ludum Dare 37.

All players have their own character and they're separated into two teams. The goal is to get five artifacts into the middle room before the opposing team achieves the same goal.

Colliding with players from the other team will send you back to the middle room unless you wield a sword. You can't wield both an artifact and a sword at the same time. Carrying an artifact slows you down slightly.

Good luck.

Note: The game is highly unpolished and it's not even tested once. It's probably not balanced and it even might not be possible to end the game if opposing team players defend the room carefully. Comments are welcome to improve the game.

The game contains no audio and the graphics suck. I'll try to add some audio later on for a post-compo version, along with balance changes once I get to try the game with 4 players.

All comments get a comment and a play in return.

Cool idea! If you revisit it, maybe can you select how many players (for example just 2 or 3) for example. Nice!

This looks neat, but I have to see if I can get together enough people to actually try it.

You could try 2 player by only using WASD and arrow keys for a 1v1 match. For a post-compo version, selecting number of players is a thing I have in mind.

Thanks for comments.

I wish i had someone to play with. Seems to be a difficult game to complete! good idea! Simple gameplay but fun!

Very nice idea and execution. Would have benefited greatly from some sound, but overall a very good submission.

It looks like a really fun game. If you haven't already consider adding AI, it would probably be enough for it to choose random direction. Liked the mechanics.

Neat idea. The artifact running and intercepting runners is like a basic tag pro. A lot of the comments mention less players, I think it would be better with more if you'd be willing to go down the path of networked/multiplayer post-jam!
