Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

'Sukitup' (Robot Vacuum Simulator 2016)

by TolMera - Compo Entry

Who knew cleaning could be fun?

Help this little Robot vacuum stay safe from the stairs while it cleans the room it's in.

Watch out though, it gets harder as levels progress!

--- How it plays ---

Room rotation seems to be faster on bigger screens, so might be a bit sluggish on small monitors.

Each level removes a section of wall from around the room, Get past Level 7 and You're into expert territory!

Hold one mouse button down to go faster
Hold two mouse buttons down to go much faster

I've fixed the High Score chart, it was pretty broken, does not affect game play, but is just nice to see it working.

Interesting take on the theme. The controls were a little clunky (it felt slow to rotate) but was fun none-the-less

Cool little game! It was a bit too hard to rotate the room, I really had to drag my mouse a couple of meters to make a full 360 spin ;) Also the game slows down (on my computer) when rotating the room.

Cool idea, and with some tweaks it can be really good!

I like the idea of rotating the room, but it doesn't work so well on my machine (Mac) for whatever reason.

I love that this is the SECOND Roomba-related game that I've played in this LD. Those robots need all the love that they can get.

Clunky, but good effort.

Good concept, if you bounce of the walls its like a variation on breakout, but bugs kill fun.

Very cool idea, the mechanic was really neat. Funny, would also have worked for the 3rd runner up theme "Control the environment not the characters". Well done!

Nice idea, really have to work the mouse. I'm not sure if the first level is meant to be a training level, but the robot seems to pass through the wall as it speeds up.

Hey Thanks all who have played it so far! :) It's really awesome reading the feedback.

Sadly that passing through the walls occasionally is a really annoying bug! and slow rotation on some computers is really annoying too. Sadly with work I won't have time to make things better, but next Ludum Dare for sure! :) (I'll see about sticking this on GitHub and open-sourcing it. Maybe even put up a youtube walk through of the code.)

@automatronvx yea, the original idea was to make a breakout type game, without the Paddle, but turned into this, which was pretty awesome. It's all about bounding off the walls and picking the angle that's going to work for you :) Which I thought was awesome fun.

@srakowski I really did like the "control the environment , not the player" theme, so mixed it in here. :)

Use of the theme was great. The controls were a little clunky, other than that, good job.

Feels like a breakout that rotates, which isn't a bad thing at all. I like the idea of speeding up the little robot too. I think it'd "feel" better to use arrow keys or something to rotate the room, instead of the mouse. Good work.

Fun game, it's satisfying to sweep up the blocks.
