Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
KHAOS ARENA is a single-room top-down shooter where you murder endless hordes of beastmen to please the thirst of laughing gods, who bestow gifts on you in return. How many corpses can you amass for the glory of the gods?
WASD - Movement
Left Click - Shoot
Right Click - Spell (once obtained).
Known bug: the Brass God's blessing doesn't work with the Bloodlust spell.
...
My second ever finished game, as well as my second LD jam game. I would've liked improve on the gameplay a bit, but there you go - might polish it up and turn it into a more finished game at some point.

Really liked the game, though it might be a little to easy. I also died two times due to horned beasts spawning inside of me. Also the normal beasts move while I'm choosing a powerup sometimes.
Cool game, in my opinion you can make it a bit easier but in rest its ok:)
Very well done game. The controls were nice. I liked that you were able to make choices through out the game.
That's quite a great game!
I love the upgrade mechanics!
Can you add the Source of this game? (I mean, that's obligatory for Ludum Dare anyways). I'd love too see it.
@Khud Of course, I'll put it up asap. I thought source code was only obligatory for the compo, but I don't mind sharing it - though its a mess, I gotta warn you :)
Hit 580 kills. The power up's really made the game a lot of fun. The sound effects could have fit the atmosphere a little better but the music was nice. Good work.
353 beasts. Pretty decent. Sometimes the enemies don't freeze during the upgrades. Sometimes I lose a lot of health without realization. Are the upgrades cumulative?
I like it. Nice atmosphere and graphics. Enemies are fun to shoot at. The skill system is pretty brilliant. It could have used more feel on the shooting/hitting enemies though, like some kind of sound or something. Still a very good entry!
Forgot to add, it would probably be a good idea to remove sounds of bullets' destroy events when they're not in the view. I mean, try shooting into nothingness and you'll soon hear the sound which indicates that the bullet was destroyed.
You can totally walk down the bottom right corner.
There is no wall :/
@Khud0 Source should be up now :)
And thanks for the feedback, everyone! I am painfully aware that it is a bit rough around the edges, especially as the difficulty goes - the deadline crept up on me while programming the upgrades. It would be lovely to iron out the kinks and make the gameplay a bit more substantial.
This is a cool game and I like the upgrade system. The different build options are great for replay value. I keep dying from having Royal Blood enemies spawn on top of me though. Also, I ran into a crash bug while trying to spam Magus Fire. That said:
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
Not bad. I think it's missing some feedback. Like screen shake, HP display more intuitively (with a health bar instead of numbers), particle effects or something when hitting enemies, and especially when you get hurt (a sound as well), etc.
The upgrade screen is not very nice because in the later stages of the game I kill the big ones in the middle of a large wave, and as far as I could see, the screen only slows down the enemies. Maybe enable the player to do it when they choose to, at the press of a button? Like this I couldn't really read the upgrades, which have their pros and cons.
I didn't understand the Blood lust spell, it just made me stop shooting. Was I supposed to run over the blood puddles or something?
Overall, quite fun. :)
Nice graphics, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/anJNAp7E9kc
It's a little bummer that the game doesn't pause when you choose your bonus, but otherwise this is a neat little thing. All the congrats for making your second LD jam! It's pretty good. :)
The music gave it a pretty amazing mood.

Killed about 300 beats over two lives.
I really like the spells and atmosphere and the mechanics are pretty simple but still fun. Nice entry.
