Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
Version 1.1.0 (17-12-2016):
===========================
I uploaded a new version, tweaking the balancing a little bit, so the game is more enjoyable and you can endure longer. :)
Controls:
=========
"W" - move up
"S" - move down
"A" - move left
"D" - move right
"Left Mouse Button" - Attack/Fire
Aim with the mouse cursor
"1" - switch weapon to sword
"2" - switch weapon to fireball
"3", "4", "5" - use item in inventory slot 3, 4 or 5
"M" - turn off music ingame
To execute the jar file, you need Java 8 installed on your machine. The game was tested on Windows and Linux.
Game Description:
=================
In this game you need to defend the Well of Youth. Skeletons will try to destroy it, if they manage to, you'll lose. You have a sword, making a decent amount of melee-damage, and a fireball for range attacks. The well can heal you slowly when you're nearby. Enemies might drop some useful stuff, such as repair orbs for the well (use when near the well) or damage upgrades. After some time, stronger enemies will join the battle as well.
And now... defend the well as long as possible (and have fun)!
Technical Details:
==================
The game was made in Java using libGDX (http://libgdx.badlogicgames.com/). I made all the graphics (except for the menu background) myself with the tool PyxelEdit (http://pyxeledit.com/). The menu background was made by a friend in MagicaVoxel (https://ephtracy.github.io/), thank you Donarr! :) The background music was first generated with http://abundant-music.com and later refined in LMMS (https://lmms.io/). All the sound effects were created with http://www.bfxr.net/.

Hello there, this is the second time I am participating in Ludum Dare now. Last time, I joined with a friend. It was an interesting experience to join this Jam alone now. Keeping yourself motivated is definitely harder, than working in a team. I learned a lot about different libGDX features, but also about planning a game (especially time management and leaving features out, you wanted so bad in the game :D) and about working on MIDI tracks.
I definitely will join the next Ludum Dare again, it might be exhausting but also extremely fun. :)
I am eager to receive your comments and learn from them.

Really good graphics and music! Gameplay feels good and I quickly learned how to bait the large enemies. Nice game!
I love the music, but the gameplay is not balanced, it's getting hard very quickly.
Nice little game :)
Very simple, but good fun for a while. All the mechanics and the different items worked flawlessly, well done!
Nice little defender game. I liked having a ranged and melee option available from the start, it opens up some fun flexibility. I agree with others, the large enemies were a huge spike in difficulty, and it kinda feels like they're just a death sentence.
Nice game. A little tough perhaps, and the luck involved in item drops made one play though considerably different to the others. Good quality work with the visuals and sounds.
The graphics and sounds are pretty awesome, I liked the gameplay but the big log guys are just way too powerful, I always lost to them. The menu screen looks really good too!
Great lighting effects, I like the detail that facing backwards when walking makes the character move slower.
This is a pretty impressive compo entry. Liked the lighting and the music: the gameplay is solid but would benefit a lot from more polish and balancing.
Cool thing!
Wow the big ones are really strong indeed ! Great work on the sound, the music is really cool. Light effects give a good atmosphere to the cave. It's was a good experience, good job :)
Challenging, fun game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/xWdPMmlW1Hs
got first impression from amazing music!
pretty good done survival game, nice lighting effect and game balance polishing.
but there is not so comfortable controls and i wish see more animations and gui :)
good luck~!
Nicely looking game. But the fireball skill seems inbalanced for me (too weak). Music and lighting are beautiful.
Full sword is the way to go in my opinion. Being ranged is counterset by the fact that you're slow so you get caught and they are able to hit you for a longer time than the 2 melee slaps it takes to kill enemies.
Simple but funny game xD good work. Are you interessed in porting this game to android and maybe ios devices ? I already have 6 games on the playstore if you like to make this happen hit me up xD
Great game, it's really fun and pretty challenging which makes it even more enjoyable! The graphics are nice and clean, the soundtrack is good, as are the sound FX. Would've liked to see more enemy types and some upgrades, but regardless of that I enjoyed the game, great entry!
Pretty classic gameplay and not too much content, but it's well executed and fun to play.

Those big guys are TOUGH. It felt like if there were 2 or 3 of them on the screen, that's it, you were done!
Well done sprites and lighting, they are very appealing and fit the game well :)
