A simple platformer that I made, there are 3 levels.
You are a dog with a moustache that needs to complete levels and give me stuff to build a car.
Just like the 30's.
Long weird story at the beginning. (Don't ask about it, I was to tired).
Game by Tom .K. age 12.
For Ludum Dare 36 COMPO

Great game! I ended up giving up on level 4, as it was so unforgiving, but I enjoyed the general presentation. It looked like you had some other mechanics that you would creep in over time, so you had a lot done for a 48 hour period.
Also, all that work at 12 is very very impressive, well done!
Cute game with surprisingly responsive controls.
Have to say the wonderful sound effects were the best part :)
Thanks, I was thinking what if when you die a funny SFX will play?
And then I added 3 SFX when you finish a level, when you die, and when you step on the ground.
I wanted to add more but suddenly my mic recorded in very low quality so I couldn't record anymore SFX.
This is great. You got the control scheme done really well in my opinion. Excellent work :)
Nice work but i don't like control.(too fast) and i found giltch you can jump on brick which is under top brick and your dog will stay on it. I think problem with colision.
Lovely dog! The game graphics is cute but the game play is hard.
I'm still trying to clear the 2nd stage. Good game.
The intro cracked me up. :D
The self recorded sound effects added a cool personal touch to the game.
At some places I didn't see where I was supposed to go next so to fix it I suggest to scale the game to make the oncoming platforms more visible or to add a minimap.
Overall enjoyed the experience. 8/10
the control very responsive, but i must say that the dog move extremeley fast thus quite hard to control, the story at the start quite funny and give charm into the game
overall i quite enjoy the game, solide entry :)
The intro was really funny, but for some reason it scrolled down the web page for me every time I pressed space lol
Got stuck on level 3.
Mishak sababa!
Thanks for the feedback,
I know that it's hard and there are collision glitches and blind jumps because of the bad camera follow. That's because LD36 is the first time I ever made a good game with actual collision and camera follow so I have no experience.
Very nice, challenging platformer, funny sound effect and intro! Some animations would make the experience more immersive for sure :)
So simple yet so addicting.
Much game. Very fun. wow
(I gave up after ~100 tries of level 2)
Congrats for finishing a game. The intro was funny although I don't like things like using "U" for you and stuff. The controls are not bad, but they are a little fast. Also the level design really needs some work. Should ease you into the game a bit more, diving right into 1 bock platforms at near max jump range, and crazy blind jumps on the first level is not a good way to get someone to play more than 30s of your game.
Also, at least as far as I could tell, the only "Ancient technology" was the crack about it in the intro.
Still, just completing a game is something to be proud of. Here's to getting better all the time.
That is one strong dog. Doesn't even need legs to stay on top of platforms. :)
And when I'm holding the jump button while under a platform, he just doesn't give up.
I got to the end in 77 seconds the first time I played, or so the game tells me. There were times when I really wanted to look lower or further than the camera would let me, but other than that, it was fun.
Thanks for the great feedback guys so in my next ludum dare I will make:
1. A better camera control.
2. An easier game.
3. No blind jumps.
4. Using only "You" And not "U".
5. More SFX.
6. Sprite animations.
7. Make the player less fast.
I might also add coins, I wanted to add them in this ludum dare but I miscalculate how long would it take to make the game.
P.S
3 hours before the end of LD compo I wanted to add a patifon
(I clicked the send button by mistake) *Pathéphone that shoots notes on the player but I was too tired and ran out of time.
Okay, that got a good laugh out of me. Well done on making this game, a little polish and it'd be great! Glad to see someone so young finish making a game, that's more than many adults can say!
Thanks, I showed the story at the start to my family and they said something like: Well what's funny about that? And then I told them: the internet will love it you'll see...
Very lovely text at the begginning :)
Your portrait is very realistic :)
Gameplay wise, many obstacles are out of sight and i can't get to see where my doggy is head :)
Nice stache!
I can't stand blind platforming... but I stuck with it. Controls were no frills and responsive. Some more telegraphing for where I need to go would have helped a lot.
I beat it in 231 seconds.
(almost 4 minutes)
I used to make games like this when I was 12. :P
Anyway, it's a decent game, but the dog could use some animation. Maybe add some music. Also, the levels felt a bit empty because I had to go across open air. Maybe add grass or something 20ish blocks down to make it feel like the player is on floating islands. :3
i have only one word for this game SUPERKALIFRAGELSTIEXPIALIDOSHIS thats it
Space bar was a bad choice for web distribution, had to keep scrolling back up to the game. Not a lot to say in terms of feedback, it's a platformer with a lot of jumps that aren't easy to see. I'm not totally sure what the intent was.
nice game, liked the dog :-) Just avoid blind jumps, especially when the player is that fast (which I really liked)
Man those are some death-defying leaps you make us take... had to hold my breath on a few of them.
nice & cool plateformer game ! But the blind jump is annoying ..
I know, so many people say that.
In my next game NO BLIND JUMP.
Nice game! My score was 91s. I like feeling that very comfortable control. That voice sound is also good.
I suck at platformers... love the sound effects you picked it was hilarious XD
I wasn't around in the 30s, but this is exactly how I imagine it to be.

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Many solo participants enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
The story at the beginning was pretty funny, made my sleep-deprived self laugh xD
Also, its nice to see that you made a complete game at 12, I'm 13 and I've bee programming for some time :D
The gameplay was surprisingly difficult as it looks deceptively simple.
Animations and more sound would have been nice, but still a nice little game.
