Bulletmorfer

by Schurtz - Jam Entry

In a world inhabited by bullets and other explosive things, you are the only one with the power of changing shapes. You have to stop the SWORDS, the other tribe that lives on your planet. Your best weapon is yourself...so it's time to kick some ass!!

Move the character with WASD, shoot yourself with the left mouse button and change shape with space.

REMEMBER YOUNG BULLETMORFER!! If you change your shape in battle, you can't return to the previous one.

Enjoy the game and let me know if there are problems, thanks!!

The sprites are good, it's quite weird to have this static background

The buttons in the menu don't seem to work for me. Running a win10 machine.

I really enjoyed this! Very nice graphics and cool take on the theme!

I had no sound, maybe that was a bug, but it's something to consider for next game, it really adds a lot!

The graphics are cute. I liked the colors you used! It took some time to figure out how to play. Sometimes, after I shoot, I'm unable to move with WASD. Nonetheless it was cute and fun :).

Hm, I wasn't able to do anything with the WASD-keys. And the first time I opened the tutorial I didn't get the explanatory text (I got it the second time). I was never able to get the hang of the aiming. I also got no sound.
The graphics are really nice though! The bullet characters are super cute! ^^

This game really got potential, but it suffers from a few things. The biggest problem is controls, where you often lose control after you shoot and can't aim or walk. The other problem is switching bullets, where I could not switch back after picking the granate.

I think the artwork of the enemys, bullets and especially the explosions are superb! Well done! Some audio would be nice as stated before.

I think this could be a fun action arcade game with some futher polish. Good luck!

A big thanks to all of you that highlighted the bugs. I have quickly fixed the problem and now everything works fine. There was also another problem with the button that didn't show up. Now there aren't important bugs, I think. thanks again guys!!

your game is cute, with some fun mechanics, but i believe there are artists who you have left uncredited?
the background image was originally a gif by michael shillingburg, and the player sprites appear to be from enter the gungeon. while i'm sure using the graphics for a jam game is harmless enough, i feel as though the credit should have been given.

Thanks for the comment cakeknuckles, the player sprites are inspired by enter the gungeon but are completly made by me either for the animation and the sprites itself. The background is the only thing I took as it is but I forgot to mention the artist in the description, now I added it.Thanks for highlighted it?

Interesting idea, loved the sprites! Too bad there was no audio, that would have really improved the whole feeling. Tbh, I just simply spammed the LMB and barelly lost any health, so you might want to fix that :D

You stole the graphics from a pretty new game? And you don't even say that you do so? Well that's not nice I would say... (and yes, I mean "Enter the Gungeon")

You stole the graphics from a pretty new game? And you don't even say that you did so, but instead take the points for it? Well that's not nice I would say... (and yes, I mean "Enter the Gungeon")

Oooh really nice pixel art bro! I like your idea, it's simple and playable, just one thing is missing - any sounds, I think it will be better with cool simple retro sounds in background! But returning to the point - nice work. :)

Nice start for a wave-game. Movement was bit odd at times, but I figured it out. Could this have just two buttons? and they would be on mouse. Like: one button to throw yourself towards mouse position, other button to change shape? Then again I don't see the reason to change shape? make like weakness on enemies towards different shapes so you have to change between them. Sprites look very heavily inspired by Enter the Gungeon, which is kinda nice, but it's not really that original.

Very nice arcade game. I really dig the graphic style, this is so cute!
Audio could have improved the immersion with a pushing soundtrack.

Well executed!

Graphics are cute and the idea is original! It is a good game overall.
The only issue I see is that movement is a bit buggy

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

Small inspiration from Enter the Gungeon? I like the graphics, but the world is kind of out of place.

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
