<TFOS> is a simple game which try to tells a small-fable about the inconspicuous shift of life stage.
process main contains 3 different short chapters, were correspond respectively with​ different life-stage.

recommend resolution : 1920*1080( it was built under this set).

my first compo challenge was failed...
Time was ample but my hand just too green... disacquaintance

at that time,for the player's whole experience, decided might as well finish it just in one vigorous effort while the iron is hot ...too struggling and too slow...(´>ω<`)

in the past few days,tasted exciting feeling from the challenge which may long-lost for me,and this progress also let me experience quite a lot.
this process both troublesome and interesting...

of course,hope i could be more fast and highly-active next time

All in all, This game is not long and not too much fast-paced

( ps: If you still encounter some difficulties, I wrote some small tips at the end of the description in itch.io / gamejolt ...
but i still recommended you experience this game before reading it,certainly wish it could be useful,as well )

@nihilaleph I am so happy to see you each LD! meanwhile,i found your game more ande more cool each time.
my execrise this time is too much emphasis is placed on content experience ...there was only 1 level could be use in the past ToT(why my hand sooo slow...)so in this situation.... deeply afraid and worry about the basic feeling can not be transmission /interpretation effectively to player,because these fragmentary content...
After all,for small exercises like this ,there would may only be one time that people often to play...so,since have started it, i decided might as well finish it just in one vigorous effort while the iron is hot .
not for perfect ,just for basic reach the standard :D
(also eager it could give a relatively complete experience to my game's first player ToT)
I will finish it in these two days! also hoping that you will like it

@uson chen 谢谢留言!今天刚开始陆续试玩参赛者的作品(我好慢),今早刚开始时就计划首先要逐个先把nova那边露了面/有印象的朋友的作品逐个都玩下来; 你们的作品刚好是我列表里的最后一个,傍晚时候已经开始玩你们的作品了!(评论都在你页面下写差不多了) 刚刚晚上吃饭回来正准备继续时,发觉版本和资料还需要更新一下,于是就临时屁颠跑去整这些了>o< ,刚才一弄完就见你在这里出现了,真是奇妙的感觉!
晚上如果我再效率高些,最先给对方留言的差点就是我了哈哈~ 此外,就像我的手速一样,也比我之前的伙伴低太多啦!
总之,你们的作品真棒,也期待以后咱们能有机会常遇到(感觉以LD为契机每隔一个间隔和一部分人偶然再遇也是个挺有趣的事,之前就偶然和几个开发者就总能在评论区见面)

The graphics and music are pretty good. After experimenting with the first level, and reading the readme doc, I still couldn't understand if I was making it to the next levels or not. The hidden barriers also made it difficult to understand where I could and could not move. I can see where this is going with shape shifting but I unfortunately could not tell if I was making any progress.

看得出花了大量时间在环境营造上,包括玩家和电脑物体的动作,移动,液体流动,粒子和音乐等细节,十分十分用心~ 整个环境很灵动,很流畅,从美术上,我觉得是十分成功的。
单人短时间营造一个完整世界,不容易。
玩法上,我有点被操作迷糊了。首先是移动,第一关的移动会被限制在绿色范围里,但是带了碰撞,所以很多时候都是被物理系统牵着走,第二关我默默感到上下是没用的,取而代之按c是网上走,按z是往下,第三关直接换成操作旁边的小花,这跳跃略大。
其次是和场景物体的交互,可能是动画衔接太好,整个环境太流畅,结果交互(例如吃东西,吸取)显得反馈很弱,无论在学习过程还是应用过程都有点“不清楚做到没有”的感觉。加个音效的话应该会好很多。
接着想说游戏包有点大,我进游戏后才明白了,原来那么多素材。然后看了第四第五幅图看得出在制作时可能没有考虑实际分辨率适配制作素材造成的。建议先定分辨率(例如1280*720),再出素材,会大大减小包尺寸。
最后,从关卡上看得出花了心思,每关的有不同风格,挑战甚至操作体验,如果操作上能更“随心所欲”,那整个游戏的“流”感觉会更赞!还是那句话,一个人的作品,很了不起!

omg! help me very much & super useful,i really have the similary feeling that just like you said to me in your page's reply!and so fantastic,i have just fixed/add the audio-effect problem this morning! because i also got some similary enlighte just like what you have said by comments,the method was by played this game which i found yesterday:

Then about the size..awwhhh~! you found it!XwX haha !
at frist day , was not projected enough and unexpected i will use these sprites to build a huge scene....orz so,just use 1920x1080 to draw these sprite which may only plan to use in mainmenu originally,also not zoom everything in a fitness scale before i output them...ToT..( 用一大堆根不用那么大的超大素材块拼关卡,我自己测试的时候都卡爆了..哈哈)
LevelA and LevelC are also a big problem for me...the design , also about the controll-adjustment and the visual elements's progressive just like you remind to me, it seems like i could try to extend the Movable-space for L-A (so do the L-B)

Finally, i think your last words have already gaves me great enlightenment and could help me to find the key point, i want to say thankyou uson again! your comment really useful and i will think more and fix more for my game through it!

Visual
The graphics is really nice, and beyond "looks nice", the visual elements are used in a innovative way. It feels like you are experimenting in the layer of interactive graphics.
In game jam, we make game that looks humble, and games that looks nice, even games looks like commercial product. But this game looks ultra-beautiful while remaining indie.

Because you are creating visual styles, rather than just borrowing or copying.
Two or three days, no one can walk very far. But it's obvious that you took your unique path.



Mode
Along with the audios, you bring me into a world that is really hard to describe. Underneath the graphics and sound, you build an emotion. Game is but an emotion generator.
In each level, the emotion shifts a little. And the best part of this game is how the emotions passes through the wall of logic, is how these abstract signals triggers the our brain to feel.


Rules and Goals
Have you ever played "Everyday Shooter"? Your game is same with that because you are both abstract themed. But even though everything is abstract, but player do need to understand the relative reason inside the game. The player always needs to know the goals and how to reach the goal.

If you decided to have them explore and understand these themselves, you have to be more carefully. You must rely on your audio, visual, animation, changed of mood, screen-fx to express if he did a good thing or bad thing.

You have to inform the player when the level progresses, when the game is in deadlock.
You have to express the logic through interaction. And the player would feel great if they get the hidden message.

@Tanton-H2X Oh thank you, you are too kind! I always try to learn something new to bring and test in LD, but this time I couldn't (well, I did mess around with vector graphics, but that was about it)...
I see, well, hope you improve enough to be able to do everything faster ^^

About the game, lovely graphics and music! Mood and concept is great! But as others pointed out, is really confusing what I'm supposed to do (even with the tips).. In my first play I got stuck after finding the green flower(?).

I think the main reasons for the confusion were the maybe too subtle goals and feedback, I didn't know what I was supposed to do or go (those leaves and little flowers kinda seemed in the background, the other stuffs seemed more important, and at the end I needed to go to the left screen edge...?); and control, it was a bit hard to maneuver, especially without knowing what were the boundaries. Also when I got the green fella the control rules seemed to change suddenly, so it was really hard to go to other places (though I'm not sure if I needed to go somewhere else).

Then I played for a second time and I realized better what I was supposed to do, and I was able to finish!

The last stage was a bit confusing too, but I just followed the pattern of trying to get leaves, and then I saw there was pollination(?) and everything went well!

Nice work! :P I still didn't fully get the whole idea, got stuck in the second level but I took the game not only as a game, but also as a great experience in visual and audio! :)

The abstract graphics gave me that feeling of a very small "creature" in its evolutionary stages of life, and the work on the audio really pairs pretty nicely with it! Both totally set up a great mood for the game, and it's really a great one.

Apart from the challenges, the game feels really relaxing while playing an gives me a nice vibe! :)

now i really relaized that the feedback in my game have some problem..QoQ then about the lyaer in visual, omg,that a big problem!just relaized it ,thank for you remind me!

About L-3,you really smart!!super cool and clear feedback about this scene. otherwise,at the beginning,only think about let these little-yellow-guys to seems like some little creatures originally,fexp,ehhh...some flower-spirit? (btw,i called them YoYo,:P haha!) or maybe symbolizes about protect or these "chance"which waiting to be collected in our life @#$@#$.... but that you said really to remind me some new points i have just not relaized before your said.( pollination = very nice!/cool!) it inspired me more!

This was a nice little game. I enjoyed the graphics quite a lot and the music was very calm and fitting. The gameplay was quite minimal but I did like the small touches you added, such as the way the character wasn't 100% responsive, almost as if outside forces were pushing him. That was very fitting because I assume the game took place in an environment such as water, where currents are a thing. I couldn't quite figure out the goal of the game, so a tutorial would have been nice, but outside of that - neat enrtry!

Good day, Tanton-H2X, thank you for a very kind feedback for my game. I visited your page with a curiosity and - wow! - was impressed with your game, too. It has very good vibes, great mood and graphics. A meditative experience. I agree with guoboism, you build an emotion. Music could be a bit softer, more meditative, but I like it as it is. And I like the title - "The Flower of Sphynx". Your game has a metaphoric language (I appreciate this aspect in games).

I really appreciate these friends who played my game and gave me your precious feedback! i corrected and adjusted so many points at recently.
in this process i also always think that if this game could be finished more early, it may could collected more meanningful feedbacks/advices... i feel that this section almost have more importance and let me study more than the process of building...(got feedback>adjustment,reciprocating,more and more realize the feedback is so important,espiclally these which wrote by heart.)
i think that's precisely the unique-charm of the LD.have a chance to get these meanningful feedbacks also have chance to send feedback to other people. hope we could make good use of this chance in future and let our game more better.

Alright, um, the audiovisuals are really cool and set the mood alright...

...but I have not a slightest idea how to play it. >.<
I can do some Z-swings, I can increase gravity, and I don't know how I'm supposed to turn these skills into.

Too bad, because the rest seems pretty solid. Maybe with clearer instructions/feedback I could figure it out...

You really set the mood very well! Very interesting graphics, love the colors, and the audio is really good. It creates this feeling that you are inside a creature or something like that, like an embryo ^^ Would be nice if there are some tutorial how to play, or even a walk-through video. Overall, good job! Next time, compo! We both can do it next time ;)

actually,there are still a core key point in this game is the" find the/your flower",just the flower is different things in each chapters,but surely,the scene-A in my game is really a big problem now...orz, although i enhence the visual-effect for these cues recently, but the scene-A really also easy to let people lost...but i also think it have some connection with the player's enviorment and the frame of mind ...but i also not sure are there some contradictions between my original-design and player's intuition ToT
so... now,i also a little bit confused with my sceneA's design ..orz and i hope there are not some too big core problem to need change it in a large-scale... all in all, i really need more check /re-think/testing for it in future and really thanks for your play and feedback!

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
