Drunk'n nuts

by AngrySquirrels - Jam Entry

Well this time we got wayy too much ambitious...
We couldn't finish our game in time , we only have the first level, and couldn't even have a level exploiting our shape shifting mechanics :(

The idea is :

you escort your shapeshifting drunk friend. He can't jump and change form by himself.
You can use J K and L to make him shape shift in different animals for different properties (bear is strong and heavy, squirrel can activate levers and mouse is fast and can get in small hole).

The goal is to get both of the squirrels past the door. Well in this level its pretty easy, again, not even shape shifting needed. We planned to use crate and buttons, air flow pushing light stuff to jump and so on. We have a lot of things already done actually, all graphs sounds and music, but code was finished late and we didn't had time to make more levels. And in the final rush new physics bug appeared and we decided it was not worth showing unbeatable levels ...

well, we'll learn from that. Reaaaaallly disapointed. No more Physics with unity for sure.

We'll work more on this and make a post jam version this week.

You can press R to reset the level.

Controls :
Z Q D / arrows : Move
E : interact with objects
R : reset level
J K L : shape shift your friend.

Am I supposed to be able to finish the first level? Can't figure it out so I'm only rating you on graphics and audio for now. Will check back later for a reply =)

Apr 19, 2016 @ 11:42am

Hello, yes you can jump with Z or Up arrow and then activate the lever with E . I reallize we didn't thought of qwerty keyboard...

Okay thanks!

Well, as this isn't a game (but a VERY nice concept) I'm not gonna drag down your 'Overall' and 'Fun' score by voting on that :)

The graphics are amazing though. Really nice animations and art!

Hope you guys had a fun time making it =)

Même si le jeu n'est pas terminé, vous avez déjà une bonne base. Graphiques superbes, audio nickel, animation au poil de cul, et un bon concept ! GG !

A bit short but graphics and music are of merit. I would want to see an extended version in the future.

Shame you couldn't do more but what you did was fun. I really liked the graphics and concept.

There is not too much to be rated. But it have a real potential to be a good game.
Keep working.

This seems very promising, I hope you keep working on it! The graphics are top notch for a LD and the audio is nice. I enjoyed my 30 seconds in this game.

Can't comment much about gameplay, it is unfinished and I understand that.
But hey, graphics and animations are amazing, seems to have had too much work!

I like the core mechanic! This could evolve into a very interesting game! :)
A tiny comment, though: It would be nice if you could tweak little bit the controls so that they are slightly more comfortable to use. Arrows, E, and JKL seem kinda weird, at least in my keyboard (english)

What this game is sweet for how small it is. Y'all gotta finish this. Even though I only played one level I liked where it was going!

Apr 28, 2016 @ 12:34pm

Thank you all for your encouraging comments, those are very motivating. We're still working on it when we find time to finish some level. We had to rewrote some code to prevents physic bug. We should be able to post a post jam version soon :)

Thank you

Real promise here and I enjoyed watching your updates during LD, just a shame there's so little content coming out in the release version. The art and music is great and it plays very responsively, I especially like that each transformation has its own theme. A shame you didn't have a dedicated bod working on levels.

Great graphics and sound. Animations are pretty top-notch, but the game itself is clearly quite incomplete. Might recommend doing more work on the game code itself with placeholder assets in the future if possible.

Nice intro and good start. But really really short. Hope there might come a little more later.

I would play a post jam version of this. The shapeshift action is my favorite (sfx/timing/particles are great). The animations/art in general is outstanding.

May 9, 2016 @ 12:52am

Thank you every one.
We worked on code with placeholders art the same time art was created but we got a lot of physocs issue. The game was almost doke ald we had 3 levels but a key feature bugged ain the last moment and made the game unbeatable so, with 20 minutes left we knew there was no more time and didn put ulbeatable levels.

We got quite busy those two last week with contract work so we couldn not work on this but we will probably start to work on it again soon.

Definitely the best graphics I've seen yet this LD! Great job on that. Would be nice to see a bit more gameplay.

The graphics are superb and well designed. The backgrounds, characters and music all blend well together and do a good job of 'world building'. The characters are unique and cute enough to warrant putting them on a t-shirt to sell at your local watering hole :)

As you mentioned - its short. It took me longer to download the game then it did to beat it. With that being said - when I did beat the game I wanted more. Which is saying a bit because I there are many games that after playing for a few minutes I didn't want more.. I actually wanted my 5 minutes back :/.

With that being said - this is Ludum Dare, the goal is to create a proof of concept to see if a game is worth while to put more time in to build upon. My opinion (and seemingly the many other opinions posted here) are that this game has a lot of potential.

Good luck ;)

I see what you've tried to do with it. The art work and graphics are very nice! Gutting that you couldn't get it finished in time, you deserve to do well as you've clearly put a lot of work into it with the graphics and music!

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
