This Ludum Dare competition is the first that I've participated in, and also the first time I've ever attempted to complete and publish a game (much less in 48 hours!). Everything is incredibly bare-bones and minimal, because one of my goals was to deliver a polished and bug-free product over one with all the features I imagined but riddled with inconsistencies.
The game itself is a puzzle in which one tries to use "cursors" to shift colored blocks into a defined shape (in this case, an apple tree). If you find a given setup absurdly hard or impossible, feel free to refresh the page: the colored squares are randomly distributed on every run-through, so you'll probably get something easier on the next try!
Everything was programmed using pure ES6 Javascript, without assets. Enjoy!

Hey, fellow first-timer :) Well done on getting it in on time.
I'm finding it really difficult at the moment. I'm not sure I understand how you're supposed to go about moving the colours around. Could you perhaps elaborate a bit?
Super difficult, but the ruleset is like nothing I have seen before. Nice puzzle idea.
I really wanted to finish the game but the coloured squares kept overwrinting themselves and thus making the puzzle unsolvable :( You can reproduce the glitch by getting a square to both 1D "buffers" on the same spot and then rotating the cursour around that spot (press left-up-right-down)
I would like to try to finish the game so if you fix the bug let me know :)

Wow. THat was quite awesome. I kind of got the rules after a few goes, but not once was I able to actually get to a point where I finished the puzzle. The idea / mechanic were simply top notch. Looked pretty good, too! I also think it could use a tutorial of some sort, and though I appreciate the random nature of the blocks, maybe have levels that must be figured out rather than random blocks? It'd be nice to know if something was possible rather than just switching blocks randomly.
wow props for such a very solid first time entry! Very tough, but it makes sense and like no other puzzle I know of. Very cool, and very original!
Interesting mechanics! Definitely new to me. Agreed with others that it would be helpful to start with smaller, simpler puzzles. Also, I kept forgetting exactly where my cursor would move to depending on which key I pressed and what my current position was.
This is one challenging game! Took me a while to figure it out, and I'll probably never finish it, but it's super unique. Points for cleverness!
WOW!!! This is crazy awesome! Its like a weird harder version of Picross!! I Love It!! I would like to see a simple tutorial that's only 5 by 5 tiles or something simple

A very interesting concept; I really wish there were tutorial levels because as is I found it very hard to understand how to efficiently get the colours where I want.
What a marvelous idea for a first entry! The controls are difficult to grasp, but a solid game in every other way. Also great work implementing this in Javascript :)
Innovation level is high, your game need some kind off introduction level to learn the basic shifting tricks.

Whoa, tape-drivey/Turning-esque gameplay. Would be neat to see an auto-player/AI run through levels as a sort of screen saver. Congrats on your first entry!

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

I think the game would've benefited from a smaller level in the beginning. A tutorial of sorts :)
