Control an invading alien race with the power to change shape. "The Formless" is a real-time strategy game where your units act as resources, shape-shifting into buildings and other units.
The basic controls are: click and drag to select units, right-click to issue a move command, and move your mouse past the edge of the game to scroll the screen.
You can play some music by hitting the speaker-looking thing in the top right.

Neat game, you don't see many RTS titles floating around for Ludums. Refreshing ^_^
The game looks nice, the music is good and the gameplay innovative. I had trouble understanding the controls, had my first unit die :( , but it definitely looked promising ! I will try this game again later :)
Cool to see an RTS, but in Firefox on Ubuntu, the game had some kind of graphical issue when I tried to place my first structure. I was definitely intrigued otherwise.
This is such well executed RTS HTML5 game! I really like how you made the units move, very natural looking.
Fantastic use of the theme, super fun to play, great audio! It can be a bit hard to understand how to play though
OK, things should be working better in Firefox now, thanks for the bug reports!
If you're confused about what to do (the game really doesn't do a great job explaining it…), here are two tips to get you started:
1. Your first goal is to place a gateway under a white transportation beam. It will make more units for you.
2. Next, build a few pillars to increase the unit limit (shown at the top of the screen). Once you've built some, the gateway should start producing stuff.
After that it's up to you!
Very unique from most of the entries. Great bgm and I like the simple gameplay even though it's a strategy game. Great work! :)
A very unique and interesting entry, it's not usual at all to find an RTS game in a Ludum Dare, much less such a webb executed one. I'm absolutely in love with the simple yet gorgeous, effective and consistent art style. The soundtrack works perfectly with the aesthetics too. Congratulations on this!
Pretty solid RTS game. The unit usage was really well done, being able to pick multiple units and assign a job for them worked excellently.
Seems like an interesting concept, but I can't seem to even place the gateway. In fact, i don't even see the transportation beam!
Had to read your comment to figure out what was going on. Pretty solid little RTS.
Fun little game, there doesn't seem to a game over screen when you die though. I really lke the different options of shapeshifting from units to structures. Graphics and music go well together. - @bytedesigning / Ashley
Solid mechanics. Really liked how the theme is implemented here. Some audio would be great to feel the mood. Congratulations. Could take less time to create and merge the units. :P
Just noticed it actually has sound, it was only disabled. Sorry. I also enjoyed the graphics. Keep it up!
I love RTS and this one is really well made. Smooth animations and solid mechanics! Great work!
Very enjoyable game and the simple graphics were perfect for the gameplay.
Great game dude! Really impressive for 72 hours, especially if done by yourself. I like the concept of macro being combining units into other units: there being different combinations and skill trees coming from that is a satisfying progression system.
Great game! Really impressive for 72 hours, especially if you did it alone. Lots of potential with combination gates/structures for skill trees etc.
Super awesome game, looks very polished, perfect use of theme as an RTS game.
first RTS I've rated this LD :) Really loved your entry, good work!
REally nice game. I was addicted to it for quite some time .Really nice use of theme

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
BTW, there seem to be some issues in Firefox. I'll look into it more when I'm less tired.
