Crops of Carnage

In Crops of Carnage (CoC for the fans), you must fill your village in the smallest amount of moons possible. Every moon, you will be able to place a villager in your village, but some of them may end up being werewolves.

The game was made in Unity 5, using Demigiant DOTween asset for some bouncy feedback. Pixels were pushed in Aseprite and SFX were crafted by the magic of Increpare's Bfxr ( The font used is Press Start 2P (

Have fun and please don't look to much at the code! I was tired and wanted to finish something :3

Great game! I like the originality in the puzzle elements. Really been keeping me interested. The graphics are great and I love the balancing act of keeping your population in check and protecting them from enemies. The sound effects evoke a retro vibe, and they were well done. Some SNES-style music would really take it over the edge. The link to the theme was a little tenuous - maybe to make it a little closer the villagers could be turned into other monsters (e.g. vampires) that would have to be dealt with differently, and still others could be combined into friendly monsters (e.g. a four-square = a giant, a four-in-a-row = a snake-person) that would add to the depth of the game.It would also be cool if the placement of your villagers by gender affected who became a werewolf more clearly. Overall an addicting and really fun game with a lot of polish (I love the attention to detail with the backgrounds and everything). Thanks a lot for your entry! Hope you do great in the compo! :D

Fun! Very inventive and intriguing. This would be amazing as a multiplayer game, but is super fun as is!

Fun Game! 16 is my best score. I couldn't figure out exactly what turns people into werewolves.

Very cool game! The concept is quite original and the end result is a fun little puzzle. Liked the graphics a lot, as well.

Good game! Agreed with @ladybenko on the fact that you chose a puzzle game and got something playable! I *know* it is not easy to come up with new puzzle mechanichs that work ;)

I like the art and I appreciate that it's possible to start playing without reading any instructions. That's very important for me in a LD!

My journey through this game:
223 moons and I still don't understand the rules really well.
I guess the goal is to keep some kind of balance since I usually get to game over quite quickly if I try to 'fight' the werewolves.
Then I read the description and instructions. I manage to get to game over in 10 moons. Not really sure if I really won.

But, It was really interesting to explore, figuring out the pattern. The graphics and little polish details really made me stick to the game trying again and again.

At first I was like cool an old-fashioned game of sweet baby making, but poor attention to birth control quickly got me. So I decided to take a more traditional approach and only birth in a need-to basis. Some how that really works.

I haven't been able to grasp the rules for werewolf generation, or is that just random, but by keeping population super restricted, and only killing werewolves when strictly needed I was able to keep going for more than 200 moons and felt I could keep going on forever. I believe there might be an infinite somewhere in the interplay of the rules, but then again I haven't quite grasped them.

All aside, I think there's something really cool in your ruleset that if polished could result in a brilliant game(either a 1p puzzle or a pvp kind of thing). Anyways, good work.

Unity player tries to allocate too much memory and doesn't run the game (Win7/Firefox).

I'll try the windows download instead.

Okay, windows works. It's a good concept, although I wasn't really sure what my task was. If it is to fill the board as fast as possible that is mainly up to luck, since it depends on how many werewolves appear.

Then I tried to hold out as long as possible, which was the more interesting mechanic but apparently not what you had in mind.

The graphics are good and I like the concept, maybe it could be fleshed out a little more.

Very easy to understand mechanic and also well balanced game.
Also pixel graphics and sounds are really cool, and all the game are in perfect harmony-

After some plays I would reach 24 moons.

Great game, it is a really funny mechanic that uses well the theme. Graphics are cool too.
However, I don't understand what are the requirements to win or lose.

Interesting mechanics and rules. It's really enjoyable and addictive.

But I missed some mechanics to clear the board and stretch the game.

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
