NOTE: Because of the Theme tie, we allowed everyone to pick either Theme. Using both was optional. To keep things simple, there will still only be one Theme category. Every category in Ludum Dare voting is an opinion, so you’re welcome to rate them as you see fit. But we encourage you to be fair in your scores to people that chose only one Theme, and not both.
ALSO: Itch.io has an experimental game downloader over here. You may find it useful.

According to the legend, when the Gjallarhorn was played, Ragnarök would start. Now it’s that time.
Ragnarök has started and you, Heimdall the Bifröst’s guardian, must protect the bridge against loki’s monster. Run from right to left and smash them with your axe. Ragnarök is unstoppable but how long can you hold it?
We've called this genre "back & slash". Finally, we’ve chosen both themes. You control Heimdall with two buttons (Z & M) and the zone that you must defend is growing little by little.

For all the Vikings lovers this is a Great game! And It has ranking
Solid entry, if you are a viking fan-boy you ll like it , it took me a while understanding how the die mechanics work, but cool game!
Even if I wasn't totally biased as a huge fan of anything Norse, the game sure as hell is a lot of fun to play; probably the most fun game I've played yet. I just love the satisfaction of slaughtering frost giants so easily and hearing that plop sound.
Lack of tactics didnt make it really enjoyable for me. Got through the game by just spamming "m". Nice setting and music though
@ianh ; @marod: Thanks mates! See you in Valhalla
@Krashja: Oh! We hope that you enjoyed it!
@RougeRogue: That's the point!
@SadSmile: Thanks to playing it
@philipp: Thanks for the feedback
@Yumi and Zumi: Thanks. Odin will be happy
Very good indeed, good implementation of both themes. Excellent presentation.
Hmm.. nicely put together, but a bit too easy because monster didn't attack directly to the player? I also would have liked to see some combos. :d other than that, good job.
Really impressed with the graphics for 72 hours. I also like the screen shake when you hit the enemy. Additionally I thought the controls were nice and responsive.
My M key is burning! Vikings, blood and great music is all that a game needs to make me jump up and down in happiness. Great game!
@eemmbbeerr ; @DustyStylus: Thanks buddies!
@maunovaha: Thanks for the feedback.
@xodene: Thanks! Screen shake it's a principal feature. Programmer only needed 48 whippings to understand it! :D
@VladRusu: You're the odin's pride! Don't worry collector's editions will include two extra M keys!
Damn, It feels awesome!
I really liked how you managed to make so interesting and simple gameplay using only two buttons. Good job, man.
Looks cool but I had some trouble running this in Firefox. Is a windows download an option?
Nice entry. The game is fun and the difficulty grows well, the theme is really cool and I like how it's made. The only bad thing about the game is that the pixels are not the same size... maybe higher res drawing would have done the trick specially as the screen zoom goes further away. Good job!
Really attractive gameplay! I've played about ten times in a row! >_<
@ M a r o o v a n: Thank you!
@Ornicar , @liquidmedia: You're a true Asgard warriors
@stargardengames: Thanks. We tried it in Firefox and we haven't had problems :/ . Try to update it.
@redmassacre: Thor looks at you pleased :D
@rogberth: Thanks for playing and for the feedback
@fxtagn: You've earned a place in Valhalla! Good job!
Pure viking goodness, this game was fun, nice combination of the tied themes, awesome entry :D
Very nice game, the gameplay is simple and fun. It took a time to understand the combos and the blood in the floor.
Interesting control-scheme. I enjoyed this game. Love the viking setting and the intense music.
@Rosain_f & gv1351: Thanks for playing!
@Mrmordem: Oh yes! Warriors of Valhalla salute you!
@CremaGames: Thanks mate :)
@mathijs750: Thanks. Pure metal \m/
@TomenLuca: thanks for the comment
Great graphics !. I like how you have resolved the themes.
Great game given the 2 button theme. I like how the camera zoomed out to make managing multiple enemies a bit more interesting. Good work all around.
@gokottastudio: Thanks for playing!
@skysthelimit: Well, it's your style. You can achieve better score if you use the two buttons. Thanks for the comment.
@bitdecaygames & @ekiscrim: Thanks!
@Sergioct & Geck0: Yes! Metal is offical soundtrack of Valhalla :p
Great game, enjoyed it a lot. nice graphics and use of themes.
Nice job! The mechanic is simple, but works fine! The Viking "touch" is cool as well (even if I'm pretty sure they didn't knew about guitar's riff at this stage of history... :D).
The overall has a nice feel, well played!
+1 for the ranking, great for this kind of game.
Really engaging for such a simple idea! Looks pretty, responsive, well put together, great entry!
Before I forgot, let me mention, when you leave scoreboard it goes back to splash screen, not very nice. I think it has potential to be a popular mobile game but I am not sure the idea would be original. I think I liked the graphics most. Sound is also okay. You need to think about what you can add to the gameplay though.
The game is fun, the gameplay is simple but solid. Unfortunatly, the graphics are confusing, the mix of different resolutions, the bright yellow on the background, the blue foes, the zoom-out during the game... It really lacks readibility. I think you have to work your layers to improve the depht of field and stay with one resolution for all the game.
@emmavanderbrug: Thanks!
@Lullaby: guitar's riff is the OST of Valhalla! :D Ask Odin!
@Hot Box Games: Thanks for playing!
@commodoreKid: Thanks for the comment. We've also thought launch it for mobiles.
@Blackmagic: Thanks for the feedback!
Oh yeah, can't go wrong with vikings! Sweet concept and solid implementation, one of the better games!
Nice idea for the gameplay. I don't know if I won or died.. what was the objective.. I see the game have a story.. try to explore this.
Great graphics and audio, the slow zoom out really gave the whole thing an excellent sense of scale.
I didn't really understand how the Ragnarok bar worked, but it was fun to slash things while having to keep an eye on the fast little guys.
Nice game! I like the norse mythology style, and the enemy design was really cool. An interesting spin on the two button fighter concept, and the dilemma of which side of the screen to focus on was a neat gameplay aspect. Good stuff.
@ChaosCult: Thanks! The emperor sends you greetings.
@Grahhhhh: Thanks for the comment!
@DrTeaSpoon: Sorry to hear that. We hope you enjoy more the next one!
@nunesbarbosa: In the Ragnarök, Loki kills Heimdal, so you died. But you can hold it longer.
@23: Ragnarök bar fills when enemies enter the red zone, if they get to the bridge the bar fills faster. Thanks for playing!
@Nega Drive: Thanks! See you in Valhalla mate :D
Greetings fellow Viking game developers! Fun game you've made here, good work!
The slow zoom out is just epic, fittingly given the rest of the game's presentation. This was a lot of fun, good work!
Nice entry! The pixel art looks really good! Gameplay is simple but rather nervous. Good job! ;)
This was a cool game! Interesting tie-in to Norse stuff, I really liked the graphics and the mood, even if it was a little bit short.
@randomhuman: Ah norse fella! I hope see you in Valhalla!
@TheMeorch: Thanks for the comment
@inbetweengames: :D thanks for playing budies!
@crucknuk & Krafty: That's the point, make a fast rounds. Thanks for playing!
Great game! How do you get scores that high though? :)
Gotta practice...
Nice gameplay, graphics and audio, felt like if wasn't able to go any further when the red circle got it's maximum size. Anyway, keep up with the good work!
Brutal and frantic with great atmosphere. Lots of fun. In Your post mortem You were dissapointed with graphics. I don't see why, congrats. :]
Simple but great game! It would be nice if Heimdall used his Gjallarhorn as a weapon instead of one axe.
Great job guys!
@Tangible Games: With combo. If you keep the combo high then the final score will be high too. Thanks for playing!
@lawendt: Yep, we wanted short plays. So when when the red circle got it's maximum size, Ragnarök reach you! thanks :D
@uthamon: Thanks for the comment!
@kaa: Thanks ^^
@Galvesmash: Odin are pride of axe. Isn't depend of us :(. Thanks for playing!
I liked it! It looks easy but if you want to keep the multiplier, the difficult increase.
Really fun and interesting to play!
First entry I replayed for a four times :)
40th place in the leaderboards
Gameplay is great, man, I think it deserves a complete version even at Google play and AppStore!
Graphics are a bit indistinct, but that looks okay
Also, what's sad for me is that the game has an end - at some point you just can't run faster to stop enemies, maybe making circle smaller for each kill will make the game time longer.
So yeah, great entry!
Very fun gameplay! Was on the edge of my seat as the ragnarok count got close.
Very nice game. A unique take on the two button theme. Graphics and sounds give it a great old 16bit feel. A way to work in a little more strategic use of the turn-back button would really cinch it.
@Drauthius: Mobile version will be longer! ;)
@JoseArias: Thanks for the comment!
@Ivan Volkov: Wow! You make us happy. We hope to release mobile version soon, I hope to see you in Val-hall-a of fame. We're going to add some new features that will make the game longer. Thanks for playing, you're a true einherjer ;)
@bitwise-constructs: Thanks budy!
@scorched & @adsilcott: Thanks for feedback we'll think about it.

Fun game,
A bit short but with just a bit more of work on it it could be very fun to play. Maybe a mobile version ? ;)
Awesome graphics and cool music and gameplay. Congratulations for your work!

Very clever take on the theme, I think the simplicity of the game is excellent, especially combined with the detail of the visual style, and the awesome audio.
Great job!
Setting was awesome and the mood was great. Reminded me of a game called "Slain". Well done!
You're not gonna p...argh ! Good little game, I like the way the screen expands while you get points. :)
@Jace239: Thanks for the video! ^^
@SecondDimension: Thanks for the comment
@Instant Noodles: Yes, in a few days we'll release a mobile version. Stay tuned!

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
This is one of the most fun games I've played so far! The controls work really well.
