What a cutscene and exposition! Wasn't expecting that with a jam game. Great idea, Dave got stuck pretty quickly though. :(

Really interesting ai for Dave! Fun premise and storyline.

Not bad. Hit a bug on the portal level where they are vertical (third level with portals). Dave just flat out disappeared. Pretty responsive, and the cut scene was decent.

Pretty funny idea. I wish the first cutscene was skipabble though. Also I can't get past the straight away when he is 2 seconds away from his house where he runs fast on the straight away with one platform to the left, Dave keeps going through me! Is that bugged? I though standing in the middle would make him jump to platform, but nothing seems to stop him there.

chunkybrewster - Sorry about that... not really a bug, more like a "I was running time and every idea was a good idea" Dave will jump if your standing more right of center. then run fast left a STAB him!

You are really creative, this idea and execution is supreme!

Great concept and well implemented.

The way "Dave" moves is especially clever with how he semi-realistically avoids the spike or moves back to the beginning. You should develop this further post-LD as it has a lot of potential.

Dammit Dave!!! Probably the only game I've ever played as a spike. I liked it.

Played fun bit of some problems with Dave's AI and some of the levels had me wondering how to hurt Dave.

Overall good job!

It felt a bit rough around the edges, and the visuals felt like they contrasted each other. Kudos on having an intro, though I did wish I could progress the dialog on my own. The simple gameplay mechanic worked well, and could definitely be expanded on were you to keep working on the game.

I was stuck on the level after he got the milk, where the hint was something about "soaring off the edge". After a while, I moved too far to the left (off screen), and couldn't get back.

It could definitely use polish, but a nice entry. Congrats on your first LD.

Very nice and original game! The cutscene was nice, but since I had to reload the game after the rewind-bug, it would have been nice to have an option to skip it. Well done. :)

Brilliant! I got stuck with Dave next to a wall, where he was unable to go back to the start. However, the game idea and the way it plays is really rather very good. And I mean: Excellent job!

Interesting concept in a couple of ways, never seen anything quite like it! I got as far as the level where Dave starts in a little cave on the bottom right, and has a little gas coming out of him. I didn't know what to do and time ran out.

The intro scene was also good. Poor Dave.

Dave is on point to get milk. BAHAHA, ON POINT. Anyway, Neat concept to see just how fast you can beat him to the punch.

Thanks everybody for the feedback so far. I will be updating this game soon and it will include a skip feature for cutscenes. I did have the idea it was just in the "If i have time add extras too" category. I will also be fix bugs and other things i added in the last hours so they didnt get much testing.

@hammerfrenzy -- Yeah i caught on that in the last hours but couldnt add because i had to fix all other things like a menu and fixing sound and other stuff like that..... :( will be added in update!!!

There was something classically funny about the musical intro. Really loved that. I like the indignant spike. Had trouble the controls and getting Dave to jump at the right time, but I'm no monster

Game mechanics are clever!
Very good challenge, well balanced (at least for me)
The audio was good, the graphics were simple but nice.
Had a lot of fun!

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
