Crystal Rumble

by gdquest - Jam Entry

You are a scientist on board of a ship, who gets possessed by a monstruous crystal spirit. Kill as many security bots as you can before you get taken out!

- Arrows or WASD to Move
- Hold Left Click to Attack

The game was made with my teammate’s Html5 engine, Meta2d. It was a great experience! See you around the LD archive, and for the next event hopefully.

Bug Fixes (as the rules allow to fix game breaking bugs after the release, here's our changelog)
- Fixed broken restart.
- Fixed infinitely playing combo sound after death.
- Fixed accumulating laser sounds.
- Fixed crash on loading in Firefox and IE.
- Fixed locked input on page unfocus.

Thank you kindly for playing! Leave us a link to your game in the comments so we can test it back! ᶘ ᵒᴥᵒᶅ

It's seems the game doesn't run for me. I have a black screen. :/

Graphics is awesome, soundtrack is nice, but so far the gameplay is boring. It has potential, it could become a really enjoyable game if you work on it.

Is there only one mutation ?
The game was rather fun, the gameplay is very classical but the graphics are fantastic ! Well done.

Beautiful looking game! I would have really liked to see more mutations to pick from!

Mh, sorry to hear that your screen is black. I have only tested it on chrome, and it seems like it doesn't launch elsewhere. I've reported the bug to Arthur, the dev. Thanks!

Yeah sorry for the mutations, we lacked time on the dev side! We've taken notes to update the game in the upcoming weeks. I'll also come back in the evening to try out all of your games guys, just gotta get back to work right now. <3

Very nice graphics, good soundtrack. The gameplay is a little to simple. It can be very very nice with more option!

DOES NOT RUN IN FIREFOX. It does run, however, in chrome. The graphics are absolutely superior and so is the audio! The combat system feels a bit underdone and hard, so I did not get very far. I would LOVE to see more content!

Good soundtrack and graphics! Cool game! A little bit too difficult to survive, but overall great job

Gorgeous art style! Cool idea the score showing on the ground itself. I hope you continue to expand this game.

Should've just removed "pick a mutation" if you ran out of time. Also, wow everything has way too much health.

I liked the concept, it needs some power ups and variety of enemies. I loved the concept and graphics. Just improve and sell it! Good job!

The graphics are good.

The gameplay is a little bit repetitive. Perhaps you can unlock powers to become stronger or hits more enemies.
The game also needs more feedbacks to know if player or enemies are hit (there is a small fx, but you probably need to flash them)
Despite everything the game is fun. Nice work :)

Great polish! The animations are lovely.. I would like to see what you have in mind for the Mutation system. Great job for the time limit!

The graphics is one of the best I've seen so far! Great job with this! The game though lacks fun factor as it is just repetition. Great entry!

Very good graphics. Good idea, but I missed agility (it could be a good improvement). :D

The graphics is good, the sound is very annoying and the controls are very bad. When i try "WSAD" on firefox all i get is word search at the bottom of the page and the directional controls get stuck when i use the arrow keys. Have u even tested it on firefox?
Seems like a good concept but it needs a lot of work. The player needs a clear goal and clear game mechanics. Is it an arena game? Is it a hack n slash RPG? Are there any other mutations unlocked later on? The game doesn't explain anything.
I'm sorry but i cannot rate this. The only thing i could rate is graphics because that seems nice.
Tip: Before working on graphics and bells and whistles, make sure you have a solid game mechanic. Good luck next time.

Great art, but the gameplay isn't coming together for me. I don't have much of a reason to move here rather than there or to hit this rather than that. What's the difference between a good player and a poor player?

Thanks for your feedback everyone! We're taking it all very seriously. @los.pixelados, sorry for your trouble, but yep we've fixed all bugs that were reported in Firefox. However I can't reproduce your issue. Do you use an addon that would use these keys as shortcuts maybe?

Hey. this is really good. Graphics are stunning. I mean, really good. The game looks like it could be a killer html5 game with some polish. Great submission

I loved the graphics. The gameplay is original and fun.
Could feel much better if punches were faster. I really liked the 2 hands combo after 2 punches.

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
