You play an affective Kraken who is looking for love on the World Wide Sea. Will you find it? Will you search only for one day romances (scoring) or for the real one..
Gameplay:
Use the directional arrows to wander around the map
Combat mode:
Dodge bullets by using W,A,S,D for the left tentacle and the directional arrows for the right tentacle (you can even play with your girlfriend/boyfriend on the same keyboard!)
Hope this will make you smile and give you mood for love! Even if you are a monster...
Enjoy!
Note: To find the true love, you might need to score a little bit (min. 5500).
Stronger boats means bigger score: The higher your score, the stronger the boats spawn (the Aircraft carrier gives around 2500)

A very unique idea - who doesn't love tentacle hugs right? I do really like the concept and it's pretty fun to float around
This is awesome on so many levels. It's like a JRPG where you walk around a world map and battle. I love how you approach and change it into a different experience entirely. The battle system cracks me up every time. Well done man. The music and SFX was great too.
Awesome game! Great concept, love the art (esp the overworld). Ready for some lovin', works as advertised.
Cool idea, really like the overworld graphics. Not hard to avoid dying tho, and there doesn't seem to be an end goal. :(
I'd like to play this but NG is giving me grief, any chance of a standalone flash embed?
Hi, could you provide a Windows download? Because I have Chrome and cannot run the webplayer.
One more thing:
Have you played my game until the end? Did you find it too long? Maybe i should make the level smaller?
We just add a windows version for the persons that can't play on webplayer.
@team klappermann
Yes I did. Maybe a bit too long, but I think that instead of shortening the level, you might ask for specific pitch on your voice at some points (like the "enraged" point), might be fun ;)
bahaha, mad bonus points just for the concept alone! This is great. The art is adorable and its quite fun! Id like to see some more complicated mechanics in the battle mode though. Id also like to see a lot more flavor text in the encounters to really flesh out the experience. (it could be just bad RNG) but every ship seems to have the same 'dating' profile. I could see this being expanded into something purely wonderful! Nice jam man.
Haha the idea of the game is hilarious, Loved the way the character moved in the over world. Felt realy smooth.
Hahahahahahahaha, awesome concept and execution, I love it!
Cool idea!
I love the theme and story idea. Very nice.
The hug minigame is too easy in my opinion. I didn't get to 5000 points as it seemed like it would take ages.
Hey! We got the same control schema in our games (not alone anymore) ^_^
Because of that I feel like cheating or something hehehe
Anyway, nice game, I see there is a lot of effort with those different game modes (sea and battle) and the popups and stuff.
At the begining, deciding sex and stuff I was affraid the game contained tentacle porn or something like that j/k
Great graphics, smooth fun gameplay, excellent submission and a real standout in the kraken games :)
The scenario is amusing.
I got to 5171 points but I guess my true love didn't spawn and my love power depleted.
The gameplay is too simple, relative to the length of the game. It's not interesting to battle the same class of ship twice.
Thanks for all yours feedbacks!
@Mase : We implemented all the mechanisms for the battle part, but we lacked some time to add variation of patterns to each boat. This is the reason why each boat have a single pattern. It is sad you failed so close to the end, something really fun was close to happen. I changed the description from "around 5000" to "min.5500" because it happens after this score.
Nice game, enjoyed controlling two separate tentacles. Glad someone else also went for the Kraken theme! :)
Wasn't able to use the Web Version because of NG.
It's a really great game! Sounds effects are a bit repetitive though
Fun idea! Lovable krakens are great. Really liked where you went with this and it was a lot of fun to play. One simple thing that I think could make it a lot better is some sort of feedback when you get hit and lose love power, either audio or something visually on the tentacle that takes damage.
I like this one a lot! Very creative! Poor kraken, just wants to give out hugs, he's so misunderstood! Everything on this one is nice!
Cool idea, It would work pretty well on mobile if you used touch to control both tentacles
Hahaha before we did our game we also thought about a monster who needed hugs xD Good job!
Really good idea, I enjoyed floating around and once I figured out how to move the tentacles, the battle system was fun to play around with. Loved the Match.com/Tinder angle.
It takes a bit too long to score points (5000 seemed like it would take forever) and you could definitely make it harder, but I really like the graphics and audio and the idea is hilarious. Great job!
Jaja i love the concept! I liked the idea a lot and how you used the theme. Very nice graphics and good music. A bit repetitive after many encounters thou. I liked wandering in the map and the combat mechanic was very interesting. Could use some more challenge and variety.
Great and charming game!
This game has made me laugh the most. Nice innovative gameplay with the dual arm controls. And the matchmaking, nice.
Awesome graphics, really interesting concept, could definitely be developed further, really impressed.
I played alone and I like the challengue of play with both tentacles xD. Love the music!
Amazing graphics and audio, the idea was really funny. The gameplay itself it's not that enjoyable, but overall great entry!
Very cute game with a novel gameplay mechanic. I played a while but didn't reach an end state, the score required seems pretty high. Having two limbs is neat, although I often had both next to each other :P Perhaps have each one on one side of the screen? The music on the map is lovely and its worth chilling to hear it all :3
Tentacle love
Great theme and I like the idea of a double control system in a bullet hell type game. A bit easy to play though, didn't find it too challenging
Well made, free hugs Kraken is brilliant even as a standalone concept. :D
Oww, that's so cute!
Clever gameplay and idea, my problem is that it is too easy, you have too much health!
Great game - quite fun and the gameplay, visuals and music are sublime. The bullets in combat mode didn't seem to hurt me at all? Not sure if that was a bug. I feel like the love metaphor was taken a bit too far too :P 4/5!
Very neat take on the theme here! I loved how selecting ships was almost like finding a date on the internet. That made me laugh. :D
Great game it was very well made the graphics and audio was quite nice. I failed to see how you're a monster though.
Nice entry, love how you did the fight part. Submarin should have some torpedos. :-)
Awesome game! That hug when getting a ship was amazing! Great art!
Haha, hugs from a kraken, count me in! But what is supposed to happen after 5500 points? i had somewhere over 10k and nothing happened. Btw, the submarines are way more dangerous then carrier, they should give more points. Hugged 3 or 4 carrier without a problem, but i avoided submarines after the first one. Until i got bored after some time and decided to let myself be killed.
@Darkflint
Spoil: After 5500, you should stop fighting other boats and looking for "a special one". It spawn once you've score 5500.
@puppetmaster
We wanted to add torpedos, but we missed time unfortunately
@aaronsnoswell
Same problem, missed time to add collision action. At the moment, you just loose life but we originaly intended to add something like explosions
All-around fantastic job. The graphics, the sound, the design, all great! I really love how quirky the story is. No idea how you came up with this.
I just think it could do with a difficulty tweak: the ships were so easy to love at first that I got a bit bored with it, and even the submarines only managed to get me down to about half my love power.
A really good game. I like the multitasking involved and the take on the theme is in fact rather fresh. All in all: LOVE IT!
I just ...died laughing!
It's very funny and cute!!
Very well polished, and surprising above all!!
Congrats!! :D <3
Hahahaha, loved it! Really creative and fun to play! I wasn't expecting a sort of dating sim with sea battles.
Took me a while to find "True Love", the ship appeared after I reached a score of 6969, lol.
The small ships are really worthless though (score-wise), they could give more points, otherwise there's almost no point in engaging them.
The cannonballs have really weird movement, but it made it all the more funny I guess.
Who made the music though? Was it made for the game? Did you get it somewhere else?
Anyway, a very fun entry, Congratulations. I really enjoyed playing it.
It is a fun little concept. I think it could make a nice "bullet hell" and hope to see more of it.
Funny take on the theme. I love the idle animation, it's great!
Funny little game, original gameplay and story :)
I felt quite weak during combat mode, but i enjoyed wandering on the map. That's cool, but first boats really gives a minimal score so scoring 5000 seems a bit high at the begining ...
@MrTwister
Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement! :)
The music was taken from independant artists on newgrounds, you can see from the web link all the music in the credits section:

@David Yates @freaknarf
Thanks for the feedback :), We wanted to tweak the difficulty balance but couldn't do it much on scheduled.
Thanks for all the love by the way!
Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.
The game was fun, but got very repetitive quickly. It was enjoyable, and very innovative mechanic. I liked it a lot, and can't wait to see other ideas you will make.
Great game!
I loved the idea and the realisation is really good. I liked the graphics, music, sound effects, and the gameplay is quite enjoyable too (maybe a little bit repetitive).
Great job overall!
Very nice entry. Awesome gameplay and Beautiful graphics, enjoyed it a lot.
Pretty amazing game. Fun mechanic, but it did get pretty repetitive rather quickly. I liked the curvy canon balls though! Nice work.
then end was so beautiful for this poor kraken!
patterns of bullets is interesting but not really realistic...
Good atmosphere. I think you could make something great with this. Upgrades, others locations, pretty solid entry!
Groovy game! Comedic twist on a classic monster, well executed to boot!
Art and music are great, styles of both really fit the moods of the two game states; whimsical absurdity of the sea-spanning romance-hunt in overland mode matched with a retro pixel style, a kawaii kraken and a catchy, carefree tune...immediately replaced by the dramatic drum-driven battle song, detailed sprites and a more menacing (yet still lovable) sea monster, quite appropriate for the intensity of combat mode's cannonball-dodging (those submarines and their sine-wave torpedo trajectories can be mighty tricky).
Keep it up!
The overall theme is great and I particularly like the music. The graphics are serviceable besides the octopus but to be honest it doesn't look out of place. The core gameplay is funny but it's not that engaging to play. It gets repetitive very quickly as well. Great concept though!
This was a rather fun and charming entry. I like the dual controls for the tentacles although I wish there were some sound effects to tell when you're hit.
Nice graphics, felt the love, liked the overhead map music a lot!
Maybe a bit on the easy side :)
Funny game with good music, but a little repetitive.
However, good jam :)
That was pretty challenging playing alone! I like the concept, I like the theme, excellent entry for a first time game maker!
It made me smile - mission complied! Very cute and funny idea and well executed
Cool and funy game! I like moving effect on the water and 2 screens and 2 modes.
hahaha that was funny and has an adorable ending. The idea is pretty cool and it was nicely done. Also, the graphics and music are good. Nice work! :D
I like the overworld music and graphics. The love theme throughout the game is clever too, instead of just destroying ships.
Very humorous concept, awesome variety of music, and cute art!
Maybe could use a couple more sound effects for some feedback when I get hit. (And maybe also sound effects for when collecting hearts at the ghost ship.)
Sometimes I'd see the cannonballs just static, only moving at the same speed as the screen, mainly on the easier ship. They'd start moving when the ship was to appear on screen, though. Maybe a bug?
The movement on the overworld feels so smooth and satisfying. The control scheme was also quite innovative! Fun mood, very unique game, and really well done!
The world looks nice and magnetic, actual gameplay is too simple but at least it's original.
Good job! +1 for the multiplayer with your boyfriend/girlfriend ;)
@6downstudios
Thank you for your comment and your love and we can't wait your post jam version, keep it up! :)
@DrZanuff
Thank you :) we don't know if we will touch it after the game jam, its a thought being examined though, anyway thanks!
@AlexFil
Thank you! Yea we know about the repetition, we might look into that or maybe not as it was just some fun for tha jam. Will see :)
@Xanjos
Yeah we didn't add some due to time constraints, thank you for your comment :)
@Grahhhhh @Oadt @Superfreak @Igoramendola
Thank you! glad you liked the way it is! :)
@Crefossusjam
Yeah the poor kraken was misunderstood the whole time, just wanted some hugs from the beginning :P
@Jelinib
Yeah we aknowledge that some sounds are missing especially the hit one :)
For the bullets moving it is not a bug, it is just due to time constraints, we couldn't add what we all wanted, like the sounds of the hits and the hearts unfortunately. Thank you for your comment, keep up the good work :)
Thank you all for the love and the comments!
sooo lovely~~
Full of Relax and Happiness
love this game

reat and lovely Game,make me more happy~~

Oh you Kraken! :3
Everybody loves a Kraken, who wouldn't? As he hugs the boat, we all scream and jump into the water! /o/
Nice graphics and good work on the soundtrack too!
Thank you guys for your support, you games were amazing too! :)

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
Aaaah well made ! Beautiful graphics, and love everywhere
