That's a neat idea, but killing humans is incredibly hard. Slow them down when they overlap you maybe?
Altough anything referencing Zappa gets points for that.
Overall a very nice game. The concept was solid and the execution was well done. If I had to suggest of improvements, I would say that it would benefit greatly from more audio components, music and sfx. Overall, a great game. Sidenote* I've always wanted to be a clan devouring slime.
I think we had a similar idea, but yours is light-years more complete. Nice little game! I agree that the humans-killing was pretty difficult. Love the slime feeding on them!
I am a huge fan of combat systems that are deliberately just button-mashing, particularly when they match the theme of the game so well. Good job!
Very fun game. I like how the slim gets bigger with every consumption!
Love it! Seeing the slime grow is so satisfying. The game is well implemented except for the fact that space and down arrow will sometimes scroll the page.
Well done!
Yeah. My whole web browser implementation has been a nightmare. I'll work on that.
I hope no kids see this!
The game was pretty good.
The fact that archers run of arrows was a nice touch, and I liked how you could use cover.
Nice game. Method of killing humans was a nice concept. Overall, I enjoyed it
Good idea - the art was a bit mixed up with some nice bits (trees in particular). Nice AI with the people going to get their arrow back and also shooting each other by accident.
Would be cool if you killed them quicker and grew, shrunk and moved faster - a good start though.
background music would be nice, but overall a nice little idea which could make a very addicting game if it would be a bit more challenging. loved the idea!
Nice concept: but unfortunately a couple of issues that hindered my enjoyment:
- when behind a tree, you can't see what's happening
- I ate a human by a hut, which made me grow, but then it seemed I was stuck inside the hut and couldn't move any more
The humans could do with a bit of pathfinding too, as they basically just shot their own houses.
Mashing spacebar was a surprisingly fun way to eat though! om nom nom
Nice idea. All that button-mashing really put me in the mindset of something that digests slowly. Very funny.
Nice one. Scope is perfect. Art is nice. Controls were a bit annoying (couldn't walk diagonally). Good entry!
Simple yet cool idea! Also I may have just broken my spacebar, haha. Good work!
Nice one, just a bit expensive to buy a new keyboard after every round ;).
There's a issue with the web version where if you hold the up or down key you end up scrolling the page by accident and the time it takes to absorb a human is quite long but this was a pretty solid game.
@Xanjos I was hoping if you press the "FullScreen" button on Ludum Dare game window it would correct the problem but it seems a lot of people are having that issue. :/
Really like the concept, but mashing space isn't as much fun :) I think you can have a fun game of picking of people and avoiding others with the mashing
Not a fan of mashing buttons, just holding the key down or doing it automatically would have been much better.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. When I wrap up the final version of the game soon i'm going to let you select from automatic digestion or manual.
Fun game! I included it in part 17 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/qmrKCmuKBqk

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
Fun little game with good art.
