Famous Nessie

by DalaiLlama - Jam Entry

Famous Nessie is a game about the infamous Loch Ness Monster. She's not really a monster though, she's just a cute little thing!

The real monsters are the people. They want to take pictures of her. Paparazzis and tourists: all they really want is a nice, clear picture of her.

The game is surely not extremely polished and lacks a lot of proper audio. Sorry for that.

Not gonna spoil this one too much for you guys. Instructions are in the main menu. Have fun! And please submit your bugs and suggest improvements! :D

You guys really gave a lot of details on this one, it certainly compensated the download time. I felt some pixel dragging mostly under water but i fear my pc as something to do with that. It's a simple and fairly visually pretty game that could be a applied for young generation's usage.

I definitely love the atmosphere for this game! Nessie just locks so cute, and the music is so upbeat and wonderful!

It ran a little slow on my laptop (but not too bad) and I was a little confused at first but once I got the hang of things, that I needed to go outside the water to eat but not run into tourists it got rather fun! It feels rather satisfying to "sink" under the water and surface again.

I wasn't sure why there needed to be a button to float if I can just point with the mouse and move? (I didn't know you were supposed to use the mouse!)

The only other thing is I wish it was a little clearer whether I was in the line of sight of the people taking pictures or not, I felt I was stumbling most of the time.

But other than that, great game and awesome graphics!

Impressive work, making a 3D game in such a delay is not an easy task! It's a shame because it lags as hell on my PC (I won't blame you for this...) but I still had a nice time. Not sure I understood clearly the pictures mechanics but it's okay. I enjoyed swimming around :)

Love it! It looks and sounds fantastic, I'm excited to play more levels.

This gameplay has a great variation for a jam game. Nice work!

Nice solid Nessie entry (as I did one myself, I'm now on a quest to play all Nessie games). I had fun playing. If there was something, I didn't realize how (if it was possible) to control the camera-position, so it felt a bit random trying to avoid the visual field cones. Besides that, fun game.

This looks so adorable!

It's maybe a bit too easy, you can just spam the eat button on land and don't even have to find the berry bushes. Also in the middle of the lake there's no way to be detected, is there? Maybe the difficulty is just right for a game for kids though. :)

I'm on the same quest as local minimum to play all the Nessie games out there (check out ours) and this one is probably my favorite so far.

Metal Gear Nessie? is that you? :)
Well this kind of game make the catalogue refreshing.
It was a great idea to incarnate one of the famous monster! :)

I found it cute to get out the water and sneak behind paparazzi to get some food and get back to the wated as nobody could have seen me. Really cute idea!
Refreshing! :)

I love this idea! Its a bit too easy (this are the most stupid tourists I have ever seen :D) but apart from that I love the story, the style, the music, the newspaper, everything is so cute :)

The visuals are pretty, and Nessie is pretty cute in this game! :3

The idea behind the game is also quite nice, it's like a "kid-friendly" stealth game. :P

This is a very cute looking game! It does seem quite easy, but the graphics and animations are nice :)

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
