Lunchtime Ninja

by HelloWorld Studios - Jam Entry

There's nothing more monstrous than stealing your co-workers lunches...

John makes the greatest food in history and nothing's tastier than the lunch he leaves in the fridge. Get to the fridge and take his lunch, then back to your desk without being seen. Grab the sandwiches on your co-workers desks for more points.

The Human Resources department are suspicious so they can't catch you away from your desk. You must also get back before 2 o' clock (end of the lunch hour). Three warnings then you're fired!

GAME HINT: The golden light is your main objective, the white lights are sandwiches (bonus objectives).

I feel like I truly am a monster! Great work!

Aug 24, 2015 @ 9:41pm

I can recommend to add some gameplay tips for such clumpsy ninjas like me.

Aug 24, 2015 @ 9:45pm

@amy742 Thank-you very much Amy. :)

Aug 24, 2015 @ 9:47pm

@YaroslavKravtsov Yeah it's a little difficult to pick up, but only to make winning more satisfying. :)

Great achievement for such a short time! Great idea! Like the pumpin dance track at the start and the creepy music throughout. Character didnt move fast enough for me so got a bit bored of walking around. Got lost at one point till I released the yellow lights show the way. Great sense of humour keeps it going.

Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:10pm

The graphics look like a professional game. Well done.

Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:11pm

@BigCow Thanks very much for the comment, glad you enjoyed the game and yeah haha I personally love the music (I didn't make it)!

I have played a game where you murder innocent people as an isis suicide bomber, a bear who kills of their offsprings so they can afford a flat tv, but this, this is just made me feel like vomit. Crimes like this should not be displayed in such manner. A trigger warning would have been nice.

Good to see another 3d graphics game, most of what I have seen so far are all 2d, the game just feels slow, but I like high speed FPS.

Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:33pm

@goet Hahahaa omfg!

Really liked the attention to detail in the office, makes sneaking through it all the more interesting. The concept is funny and the sounds accentuate that. Well done!

Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:35pm

@liquidmedia Thanks for your comment, yeah we considered doing it as a top-down 2D game but thought we'd be different.

Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:36pm

@Ferret Thanks a lot Ferret, really appreciate the feedback!

Cool game, might be better if each day wasn't the same thing, different things to steal

Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:59pm

This is good! Great interpretation of the theme for sure and very well executed. I just feel that this would be a case of "less is more", and a single day would certainly be enough instead of playing a whole week.

Aug 24, 2015 @ 11:15pm

@Wevel That was the plan, we just didn't have time. The days do get harder, more guys patrol and the time you get will decrease. Thanks for your feedback!

Aug 24, 2015 @ 11:18pm

@ShellfishGames I understand what you mean, we never actually considered doing one long day and then ending the game. The original plan was to make each day in a different office but we ran out of time. The code was created around the week system from day 1. Thanks for your comment. :)

HAHAHAA! Awesome game. I love the sound effect then they catch you.

Aug 25, 2015 @ 9:58am

@andyman404 Glad you enjoyed it Andy! Thanks for the comment :)

It's good that you added spots showing where the food is, that can be visible through the walls. I think the game can be turned into a predator simulator.

Here're my video reviews:
Your game is at 05:56

It sure was an original idea applied with with not many resources but with a rather gratifying ending. Mostly enjoyed the small details during my sneakily approaches, considering it would be a bit repetitive without them.

Aug 26, 2015 @ 12:34pm

@General Really enjoyed the YouTube video! Thanks for playing it and for your feedback.

Aug 26, 2015 @ 12:35pm

@Shina69 Thanks for the comment Shina. Our original plan was to have different offices every day but due to us running out of time I made it so you have less time & there's more workers to catch you. Glad you liked the idea! :)

That's a little sad for me :(
Still a great entry!

Nice graphics, and specially awesome sense of humour. Loved those little details like the posters or the letters on the fridge saying "just do it" I can't fight against the cosmos, so I stole the hell out of those sandwiches!

Looks really good! The stealth mechanics are well done with the green/red lights system. Good job!

Aug 26, 2015 @ 4:57pm

Quite difficult & made me feel evil - good job!

Aug 26, 2015 @ 5:10pm

@Cliff Lee(CL) Thanks, I'm glad you liked the game! There is a 1.5 second wait from when the light turns red until you actually get seen, maybe it's a bit too short. Wish we had some time to play test the game. :)

Aug 26, 2015 @ 5:11pm

@bigbuggames Haha I'm glad you liked it :) Thanks for the comment.

@highlyinteractive Thank-you, glad we could bring out the darkside in you.

This game is really fun. The concept itself made me laugh. Really enjoyed playing it, nice job!

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
