Monsta Stelth Gem

by Macecraft - Jam Entry

Ever wished to creep eerily around a house as a monster on the prowl for a kill?! Well now you can, play as 'Monsta' the toothy, wide-mouthed monster out to kill guys wearing top hats! Avoid the view of the tenants of the house and eradicate all those darn hats!

-> (No hats were harmed in the making of this game) <-

-> (No really, the artist wears a hat...) <-

Monsta Stelth Gem - Instructions :

WASD or Arrow Keys to move

X to interact with objects & target

= Walk around the map avoiding the vision of the tenants of the house
= Hide in objects such as chairs, fridges, closets & bins
= Distract tenants with noisy objects such as radios & TV's
= Kill the 2 targets in the level by pressing 'X', (they're the guys wearing top hats!)

The game seems to crash when I interact with the TV and Radio. Not going to rate it right now with crashes but I like the art style a lot :)

@S0lll0s yeah sorry about that, we're going to fix the game crashing bug

Cool! Moderately difficult, but insanely punishing. I'm not sure if my kill persisted, but I was loathe to take the time to figure it out. Checkpoints would be hugely welcome. But: art is good, game works great, view-casting is crazy good. I don't tend to have enough patience to make progress in stealth games, but I like it!

Neat stealth game! It's pretty tough, but I like the challenge. The AI seems to work well when distracting enemies. Music and sound would be a nice addition.

I appreciate the view-cones actually becoming obstructed. Pretty simple game, nothing particularly new, but it was nice. Cute & I'm always down for more stealth games

Graphics/animations are gorgeous, level design is solid and the game feels excellent to maneuver about. Shame I am so terrible at stealth games! Excellent job guys!

Good little puzzle stealth game. Would've loved if it had music and sfx.

Cute artwork. Always refreshing to see some non-pixelart 2d games. Interesting concept too.

Nice, works really well, lacks a little bit of audio. ^^

I love the art style, but this desperately needs audio. And a little more forgiveness with the vision cones. (In Metal Gear terms, there should probably be a brief "?" period before the "!")

As others have mentioned having some audio (even an ambient soundtrack and some sfx) would've pushed this from good to great. It would've also helped with knowing whether or not you activated the objects succesfully. The mechanics did work wonderfully though and the art was pleasing too. Took a few tries but I found the difficulty to be quite good since the game is so short.

We'll be releasing a more updated version on Itch. This version will contain audio, more levels and it will be less punishing in terms of games design... Or maybe we'll keep that element cause it seems to make people keep trying

It's not bad. The level design is a little bit too tight in places, so it requires grest reflexes. Like the others say it would've been better with sound. It makes me want to kill those little girls or whatever monster hunters they are.

This is a cool, nice and cute stealh game. Yes, it is simple, but is very fun. Good job ;-)

That was fun to play, the graphics are nice. I don't know how many times I've died ^^ Fortunately I don't wear hat ^^
But a music and some sound effects would have been nice, sometimes I didn't really know when I switch on the radio.

Flawless mechanics and always fair - no matter how often they get me, I always want to try again. The graphics are really nice, too!

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
