Welcome to the Monster Training Simulator 2015!
In order to become a monster, you need to undergo some training. If you fail, your monster status will be revoked!

Done in ~10 hours by myself - @iossif
I had ideas and plans for roughly 20 levels but as usual, i found less time than i'd like to make the game. In the current version there are 3 finished levels:
- The Siren Challenge: Sing to lure in the ships
- The King Challenge: Attack planes that attack you
- The Ghost Challenge: Scare people with good timing
I hope you like it. Feedback is welcome!

I like it! The art style is fantastic!
Sometimes it didn't register a letter no matter how many times i clicked it.
@linus: there is a built in spam protection. maybe that did prevent the button. i will see if it needs to be less strict.
Cute! I too think the reduced palette works well and binds everything together nicely
That scream! Nice little mini game collection with pretty good graphics. I liked it.
recording that scream with open doors was not smart. my little one got pretty spooked :D
I enjoyed the mini games !
The anims are fun, and the gameplay works well, good job
Fun little typing style game. I also found the boat level a bit too difficult, but nice challenge overall. Well done.
Great concept - I love typing-based games (Typing of the Dead anyone?). :D All you need is more games and I'd be sitting here playing for a lot longer. Good job!
Glorious art and the sound effects had me laughing. I loved the MONSTROUS drill instructor.
The siren scene was adorable :D
Bit clueless at first on what to do until i noticed the letters.
Good work!
Realy like it! Simple art style was nice and everything worked together well. But this does remind me of how bad I am at typing :)
It's obvious, this isn't your first game :) Nice minigames, nice animations, nice soundeffects!
Thanks for this game! It's put a smile on my face while watching the animations hahaha :)
I particularly liked the first mini-games calling out to the ship so it flowed backwards. The second one, I did press the correct letter when over the correct tile, but maybe it wasn't centered enough. If it needed to be centered, I think that should have been made clearer. This was the only part I never completed. I general a good game and well worked graphics.
i got some feedback regarding the unclear ghost level. i think about how i can make it more clear what to do in that one for the post-LD version.
Simple, but very well made. I included it in part 4 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/NqmWO8MUX6c
This is a great idea and a great little game. Love the art and the different stages. Very clever. But, I suck at touch typing so it was too hard for me. Couldn't quite get through all 3 stages. Good job on the game.
it took me a while to figure out this was a typing game... needs a tutorial that says "this is a typing game" to clear that up or something. They were fun little minigames, though :) Good job!
This is cute, although sometimes it seemed to not get the letter that I typed correctly (or maybe it was showing the wrong letter). Also, it might be more fun if there was more time to type and maybe more things to type?
i had way more planned but reality did strike and cut down my programming hours :(
i will add it to the list for the post-LD build!
Heh, I laughed at the drill sergeant.
Typing games! It seems that it dealt only with a subset of keys, and I wonder why.
It took me a few tries to understand why I had failed in the last challenge.
The graphics were very cohesive, although the sound effects were rough.
i did choose a subset (basically 8 buttons only) to make it a bit easier.
yeah!
nice mini game thing!
took me a bit to understand the scare game
but then i got it
and i'm a monster now!
good one!
good job!
Cute graphics and lovely mini games. Well managed with such a minimal colors. Good job!
Nice minigames. Great art style, and I love the army references, very funny. Too hard sometimes xD
Funny typing minigames :) Simple and short game, and nice pixel art.

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
Very cool collection of mini games. The third one with the ship is just way too hard for me haha. But then again I'm a hunt and pecker kind of typer.
Well done.
