That shader thing was pretty cool, I may actually look at your source code to see how you did that.
It was fun overall as well, though the gameplay felt a bit like mowing the lawn at points, there were just so many villagers, and they were so ineffective once I got a method down.
The best thing about this game was the juice - everything feels really good, the particle effects, animations, little details were everywhere, and I really loved that.
The game itself felt a bit staid. There's not much in the way of variety - the challenge didn't make me feel particularly attached to this or that outcome, I zoned out a lot, felt like a chore, I think it could have done with some more rhythm - sometimes hard, sometimes easy, sometimes fast, sometimes slow.
A real shame considering the way the enemies moved and everything really made it feel alive in a really good way :)
Best Game I have played so far. Both in terms of aesthetics as gameplay wise.
Really nice game, I liked the graphics.
So much little guys to kill! :D
Great audio and graphics, tight controls. The only problem is length of some waves - once I've survived for couple minutes in one wave, it's probably not getting any tougher, just more tedious.
Simply put, it's a great game! The music and sound effects are pleasing, the gameplay is fun (but gets rapidly hard, which is the only negative I found); The graphics are adorable. That shader is so neat! I particularly enjoyed the humour, the little things the tiny villagers say crack me up. Great job! :)
This game was really cool when I first started playing it. The graphics were very impressive, the background music was pleasing, and the crunchy feel of attacking enemies was gratifying.
Sadly, the game really overstays its welcome. The combat quickly grows dull, and this is made worse by some lengthy waves were nothing particularly interesting happens. There are just more and more villagers pouring out of the walls, but they rarely pose a threat and never require varied strategies to be beaten.
Ultimately, this is a really fun game which feels like it was greatly held back by some bland padding.
Thanks everyone for the feedback so far! I really wish I could have playtested more and made sure the game wasn't too hard and the waves weren't too long.
Graphics are awesome as well as gameplay! I like this shader effect. Nice entry!
Made me feel really sorry for the ogre, I love the shader you've put on this (I assume :p) it gives a really cool effect and I like the attack animation. Those kids were mean!
Nice job man! I like how you did the rendering style, is that a shader or something?
Thanks guys! Yeah that's a shader, it basically overlays a semi transparent bevel effect over the entire screen.
Awesome graphics, neat game. I included it in part 4 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/NqmWO8MUX6c
Very fun to play, I liked the controls, the art style was nice and the things the humans said were funny.
SO FUN! One of the better games I've played so far - immediately gratifying and killer graphics.
Fun and monotonous feels like it needs a few more ways to attack imo, I died at the flying ninjas
Fun and responsive! Some neat mechanics going on here. I know it's a small touch, but I really like how the health meter refills.
Would like some variation in weapons or attacks.
Good job overall!
Super polished! You did a great job putting the aesthetic together. Everything felt smooth and just right. It really felt like a polished arcade game. Great job!
Good game, I got quite far. Only I didn't really understand how I was the monster since I was only protecting myself =p
Woaaaaaaaaaaah! That Coool maaan!
The ai is well designed, the gameplay smooth and enjoyable!
The visual really cute! <3
Well done! :D
I get a magenta block when attempting to play this game. Tried differenet browsers, same result.
Awesome! Great graphics and nice soundtrack. Everything feels good when playing.
Really good and polished game. I like the art style and the attention to detail. The controls work well too, as does the gameplay. The waves were maybe a bit too long and got repetitive after a while, though.
I like what you did with the art and the sound is pleasant. Once I worked out I could hold down attack it became much easier.
My main problem is that after a few minutes it feels like I saw everything their was in the game and it was just dragging on.
The enemy variety was good and the stuff they say was a nice touch. Some of the waves were a bit too long and the sound was very repetetive, pitch-randomization would have helped.
Good little game. Great music, nice graphics (I like the weird tile effect) and fun gameplay.

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
This game was pretty great for a 48 hour game! I didn't really like the attacking, because it seemed to small and too difficult to hit those little humans. Maybe it was supposed to be like that(?), but it was just too hard.
