Extreme Fighting Not Very Greedy Jews With Doner Kebab For No Reason. The Game.
by daltostronic - Jam EntryAs a Doner Kebab retailer we throw bombs (for no reason) at Jews who are trying to throw some (literally deadly) money at us (for no reason again). We can collect the money from the ground, but trying to catch it as long as it flies towars us is rather a bad idea. The goal is to collect as many coins as possible. Hey wait! You can also heal yourself, but it will cost you $5! Have fun!
Graphics are made by my lovely GF @Rachela <3

You can heal yourself if you collected at least $5 first and then pressed 'C' on your keyboard :)
I know you're going for funny but it's not particularly funny as stereotypes or satire goes :/
That aside - the money being thrown is so tiny that it's hardly visible, so... It's really hard to get anywhere, I found.
Then, the wind up animation when you throw your bombs make it almost impossible to throw and turnaround - you always end up throwing the wrong way. Sooooo.
It's a cool concept but it needs some attention to make it play worthy :)
oh, c'mon, stereotypes are funny as long as people don't get mad about them :) No Jews or kebab sellers were harmed during production ot this game, and none should feel so :D It may just be 'politically incorrect', but wasn't mean to be offensive :)
Thanks for the tip with the size of money! And the trick with turning around is meant to make the game harder - it's a game mechanic :D Have fun, thanks for your comment :)
Wow, this is really something new :P It's pretty good, but I think it could use some power ups or something alike!
Too difficult to get money - bombs should go further and maybe they could affect each other if you did more work on this after LD.
I guess you were going for humor, but I didn't find it that funny myself.
I actually liked the music background.
Can I just go on record as saying I seriously don't like your choice of theme?
This is annoyingly hard to rate because it does some things very well and others very bad but they're in the same categories. I liked the idea of turning enemies bullets (coins) into pickups when you avoid them, but doing so was infuriatingly hard because the fire rate of enemies and the speed of their bullets is way over powered.
The sprites are well done but the coins are SO hard to see.
And the humour... I know some people will tell me to lighten up but I could think of at least 4 other kind of people who have a stereotypical association with money without making it about inter-community racial tension, which is very real and not funny.
controls/game physics are tough in a bad way, but the game looks nice, has a quirky charm to it.
Enemies projectile speed is outrageous and the keymapping choice make it a bit awkward to play.
Probably the best game name ever, The keys are quite awkward to use but the gameplay feels smooth. The graphics are really good and the music suits the game also.
thank you! yeah, I should provide better keys, but I had no better idea... maybe space for jumping, ctrl for shooting and shift for healing?
Very funny game, nice job! Max for humor! The theme fits amazingly too.
Seems like it needs to be balanced still. I go for stretches where no enemies spawn for what seems like ages and then 10 come at once and kill me before I can kill a single one.
Kebab, kebab, kebab!
I like the game. The idea of collecting projectiles that didn't hit you is nice. Music and sounds are nice.
What is a bit annoying, is that there are moments, when I walk around for a long time and no enemies appear. You could try tweaking this - this might make an overall experience better. Graphics are nice, I love how the kebab explodes! The background might have been a bit more city-like, or something that would keep the same feeling as other parts.
You may think about other, bonus, enemies from time to time.
Kebab, keb...
Thanks for feedback guys! If I'll continue development, I'll take every single suggestion into account! :)
Characters have nice pixels, also like the idea that bullet becomes something to collect if you manage to avoid it. Steering and physic is ok like for me. When it comes to the humour.. it's not really in my type, but sounds of jumping (weeee) and throwing a kebab sounds funny :)
Needs a bit tweaking! But the C64 style graphics are charming ;D.
Fun game! And also really funny! The controls all worked nicely, and the use of theme here was pretty hilarious!

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I could not heal my char.
Nice use of the theme.
