You have to go. Now. It’s been activated. I tried talking to them, they didn’t believe me. They think I did it. That’s besides the point. All I have is this shield. Not a very conventional weapon now, is it? It does however, hide some secrets...
Shift is a 2D platformer in which the player attempts to escape the detonation of a Weapon of Mass Destruction. You can use the 'A' and 'D' keys to move, and the 'W' key to jump. Whilst in the air, you can press Spacebar to jump again. You have a defensive shield which you must turn into an aggressive weapon. Good luck!

It's a fun game, decent graphics, really good music and fine from mechanic standpoint (beside getting stuck sometimes).
Shield as a weapon? Well it goes with the theme.
BTW: i get this texture error http://i.imgur.com/Gx1H3gY.png
I watched bits of your stream so i know how it should look.
Really strange.
Audio is perfect ! Graphics are simple ... The theme is respected. You innovated. You made a story, that was good too ! Overall nice work.
The music was top notch, and I really liked the "parachute" game mechanic ! Great work.
I really like the mechanic of this, however some blocks did not allow me to move, and at one point the level stopped spawning, causing me to lose :( the music is good!
Music is amazing. The mechanic is quite interesting. I disliked how the game was extremely dark and I got stuck a few times.
The menu screen looks cool and it seems like you could do some nice graphics but the game itself lacks. In all your submissions it feels like you have a ton of potential and then you get stuck on some technical nuance leaving you little time to perfect the game. Music is as good as always in your games.
Pretty Fun game Cherno I watched you make most of it and make the sparky engine.
The game has some of the best music that I've heard from anyone in the ludum dare, awesome work!
well the controlls are weird... this is not how physics work... the music is nice though. if you put more effort in the game and not the music, it could have been better. but then again, this was compo so good work
The graphics are simple, the gameplay is fun and the music is amazing.
Great game Cherno! I nearly watched the entire stream, however tiredness got the best of me. But... I tried. ;)
The audio and graphics are good, but the gameplay is not as solid. To jump with W and then with space felt plain weird and the fact that no real difficulty curve other than more enemies was not interesting. Overall good, but needs improvements in gameplay.
131380!
Really liked it and kept playing for quite some time. Enjoyed the "background story", those few sentences and the death screen kinda made you imagine your own story. Even though you were just playing a red dot on the screen :D
I think the incredible music was playing a great role in encouraging that feeling.
Graphics - simple, but worked out.
I don't think a shield and reflecting shots are great news, but the idea of surfing on the shield was fun, it improved the jump n run feeling by giving it variety.
Gameplay: Reflection and surfing worked perfectly fine, maybe the shield is a little bit too big.
Around Stage 5 the fights get a little ridiculous, once the wave hits you just stand there and wait until they die by themselves.
The placement and variety of the platforms started being fun at around Stage 4, because then you had to work out the surfing in combination with double jumps.
One Problem: (I've played the web version) - sometimes the next part of the stage doesn't get spawned, so you have to perform a "leap of faith" and hope a platform spawns beneath you. Very interesting while leaping from a low platform :D
Great work! Keep up making your videos!

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
I liked the unconventional weapon also the glow on the screen when you died was a nice effect. The audio was great as always, watched you make a bit of it on stream. I found sometimes when the platforms would spawn I could get stuck in them. The only way to get out of this was to jump. Overall nice job on this.
