Take on the role of the formidable Snowma'am and defend the Light of Winter!
Well, you're a magical snow witch who can crush her enemies by animating snow monsters, you know the drill ;) It's a strategy/tower defense-style game. Turns last 3 seconds and advance automatically.
Select a snow creature by clicking on it, then move it or attack things by clicking on the destination. Movement is restricted to one field at a time.
Keyboard shortcuts (optional):
P - pause game
A/D - select previous/next unit
S - select Snowma'am

As always, I appreciate comments more than votes :) And if you encounter a bug (which is very likely), please describe it in the comments below.
Compatibility: didn't test on IE or Opera, so beware. Due to compositing slowness, I disabled the falling snow effect on Firefox (you'll have to use Chrome to see it). Minimum window size is about 1200x900 pixels.

This game was made solo by me for LD31, from scratch. I used Logic Pro X for the score, Audacity for sound editing, Pixelmator for graphics editing, the Terminal and Coda for code editing. Cinema4D for the 3D work. Libraries are jQuery and Howler.js - otherwise it's a vanilla JS/CSS/HTML app.
I'll post the timelapse tomorrow probably.

Post-LD Changelog:
- updated web URL to use CDN (should load faster now)
- fixed an error that caused the heal spell not to work
- fixed a bug that caused the spell buttons not to update
- decreased the round timer by half

I really like it! Very nice and atmospheric. Pretty difficult too, I only made it about 3 or 4 waves in on the first try. xD
Thanks for the comment on my entry too, I've replied in case you want to try again at some point :P
Love style of game x) i enjoyed it.. also check my project if you have some time x)
Wow nicely done, this seems like a good amount of work to have gotten done for the compo so I'm impressed. Gets really challenging.
It's slow. The art and sound are nice, but it is REALLY slow.
I think the issue stems from trying to mix turn based strategy with real time strategy.
* Feels a bit slow (yeah yeah, like the others said).
* The snowman renderings look nice.
* It's weird you have to move units manually but not attack manually.
* This seems to be made entirely with HTML, not even Canvas, so it should run everywhere - great work!
I actually kinda like this game, at first i destroyed the house for no reason, then i managed to start the waves, i like wave games so you had me there, Gameplay was slow and repetitive, but you know what i enjoyed it. Would love to see it expanded on ^^
You say in your blog post that it's not fun and a failure but I think it's not a failure, and the fun is hiding in it as well. It has some flaws that hurt the experience (like the really slow speed) but the underlying idea is good and at worst it's just an unfinished game.
I'm sure with a clear head and some extra time it could have been closer to your vision :)
That is very kind Gins, thank you. However you may judge the final result, I think the points I made in the blog post are the best advice I feel qualified to pass on (regardless of context), and there is no question in my mind the game would have profited immensely if I stuck to them :)
The controls were a bit rough around the edges, but all around I really liked the game.
@udo: yes, your advice in your blog post is very useful, I'm definitely going to remember those points for future Ludum Dares!
@freaknarf: yeah, I couldn't let go of the snow theme completely ;)
:) Hehe before it started i was quite sure the snowman theme would be the one... BTW i managed to set a quickplay distribution on my entry, check it out if you have time !
Cheers !
Pulsartronic, I actually thought the music score was the best part.
It's actually very fun, it's hard to stop playing this game! Although the speed of characters and the double-click controls need a little work
Great game! I like the atmospheric music and the graphics. Wish I could give the units a path to follow instead of moving one step at a time. But I like how you mix melee and ranged attacks so we have to be vigilant!
Pretty cool. The controls were a tiny bit weird (I expected it to be more turn based, but it was realtime). Trying to move my snowmen around was a bit bothersome. I did get very into it though, making effort to play better.
All in all, it was pretty fun. Really enjoyed the music as well.
While this might be a bit slow as it is right now, I think it definitely has potential. The art and sound were great. I think if you could move your units diagonally and more than one square at once this could be a great game!
Great RPG game. Snowman wizad looks awesome! Good luck with that.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Beyond the painfully slow controls I think this is a pretty solid entry. Enjoyed the art and application of the them.
