Love the graphics and the humor. The game lives up to its name!
I like all the little touches: locking doors, different ammo, etc. It's just so small my eyes hurt!
OH GOD
I made a last-second change which broke things.
read the rules and made sure i could do this:
UPDATE TO GAME BREAKING BUG: when dying and respawning, your weapons will no longer do 0 damage.
Sorry about that everyone!
Very, very good! The tiny graphics are awesome, the audio is great, and the gameplay is very fun. Overall, it seems perfect to me.
Not very easy, but very good aproach to the game theme. This was one of my games ideas, but i didn't have enough knowledge to do that in 48 hous. Hats off!
A very intersting game - I like it. The music really fits, if a bit repetetive (that's expected in 48h). The gameplay could have a bit more to it, but overall great game.
Great fun, and really hard to complete!
So naturally, I couldn't complete it :(
Music is perfect though - suits the game so well :D Graphics are great too :D Rated very highly.
The moment you end up in a room wall to wall with mobs is crushing. Love it!
That is quite the eye strain. I felt like enemies frequently spawned on top of me, which was a bit irritating, but there may have been some indication they were going to spawn that I just couldn't see. Not bad, but I can't play this for very long without my eyes starting to hurt.
A couple of bugs I noticed: if you walk into the next room before the title/instructions disappear, you get stuck and have to reload. It also seemed like if I had my back against the wall, the arrows wouldn't shoot. It would make the sound effect, but then nothing would happen.
@Empyrealhell yep i know about these! sorry about those. Didnt have time to fix them so for now, just dont move as it's setting up, and stay away from the walls. I may upload a post-compo version with these fixes later. and yeah, some people have trouble seeing the small graphics. sorry about that! but they do need to be that small.
@andysolace thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the music :)
@everyone else Thank you for playing and rating!
Oh come on! This is too small for my poor eyes! ;)
Very fun game, a little to har for me though. Nice work!
Wow I really had to squint my eyes while playing this :)
Nice graphics & animations!
Also very hard, couldn't get past the first 3 rooms.
Fantastic game, you have so much detail on such a small scale. I think you could package and sell this game as is. If you added some levels and maybe different weapons/enemies/surroundings for those areas... forget about it. This would be ranking up there with some of the best dungeon crawl games.
Two critiques: 1. The shooting weapon has too much collision with the walls - in some rooms you only have a couple of pixels to stand where you can actually shoot. And 2. when you get the map reveal - it makes it harder to navigate because you can't tell rooms you've been in since all doors become open.
@ceosol wow. Thank you so much for the comment!! That's really awesome to hear! I mayy work some more on this and release it later if I get the chance, who knows. I had a lot more ideas for it.
And what you say about the arrows is completely true, and it annoys me too haha. I just didn't get the chance to change it I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
@everyone else: yep it's pretty small
That's all I have to say on that ;)
Digging the style and the audio, the size of the screen makes it difficult to play.
I hated it at first but then it turn out to be fun experience. Likes for theme, graphics and innovation. Dislike for audio.
The tiny graphics are awesome, the audio is great, and the gameplay is very fun. Neat ++
I had a blast playing it. I must've been really lucky since the game felt way too easy for me.
The only other thing I would add is after collecting the map -> darken the rooms that you haven't been to. Otherwise, great job!
@Raiyumi yeah oops I meant to comment about the map issue. I was originally going to do that but it didn't end up working and I forget why. Also it was right at the end of the time limit so it was never implemented, but I have the assets for it!
This game is awesome! Was a little hard figuring things out at first what with the tiny size, but one I did it was really addictive! There's a surprising amount of strategy involved in making it to the boss, what with the powerups, and making sure you have enough hearts. One of the most replayable games I've seen this jam. I'd love to see this expanded upon. Great job!
Some bugs in the projectile direction but the game is pretty good. I got an update for both weapons, which improved my way through the dungeon =). The size bother a little, I would recommend to increase a bit the size of the dungeon and maybe add different levels.
It is a Great job, I hope to see a post-compo version.
Tip for others, zoom the page!
I think that this can totally carry the title of "pixelated Dark Souls", but not in a facetious sort of "this-is-too-rediculously-hard" sort of way. It's definitely a challenge, and something you could get better at with time, and eventually reach end-game with practice. I don't sense any artificial difficulty here, which is really rare and special for a LD game. :)
While I adore the tiny pixel style, it has the unfortunate side-effect of eye strain and back pain as I lean in and try to play. I would definitely play this for lengthy periods of time if it was not potentially harmful to my health, but that just might make it even closer to a Dark Souls relation. ;)
Fantastic job, though! This is certainly a game worth carrying on post-LD! :D
A scrolling screen would be nice, with a minimap. Besides that, I love it.
Great idea to make appearing levels! It's great how you had you had challenge by making rooms appear clear until you walk into them. Lots of surprises to keep you on your toes! Great work!
Very nice dungeon crawler! Would be nice to give player some room when spawning though, both for monsters and items. When a chest spawns directly on top of you and opens right away, it kinda cancels the effect of intrigue. :)
@yodamaster haha i didn't mean it that way, but you can interpret it however you'd like based on if you like it or not ;) So far many people have liked it
Very difficult to kill anything but there is a strong appeal to discover the rest of the dungeon. I got frustrated to be blocked by the enemies without any way to escape. Maybe adding a short invincibility period for the player to regroup when getting hit would make the more enjoyable.
At some point I got to see the flixel debug console, not sure how (I didn't know Stencyl used flixel!). Overall it is still a nice little game that deserves some attention.
@Ashtom thanks a lot!
There is an invincibility period after getting hit, for both the player and all enemies. it's shorter on the enemies though. It may be quick, though, because i was testing with heavy lag so everything was pretty slowed down for me (I was streaming) and I had to guess what the timings would be like for other players. Another thing i would add in a new version if i make it is knockback to help prevent getting trapped like that.
Yeah pressing either '~' or '\' will bring up the debug console. With the version of stencyl I used, I can't do anything about that (Unless I force it to mimic that keypress when it opens to close it again, or there may be some flixel code I couldv'e run to disable it, but it doesnt matter really) so just ignore it! (or learn from it)
I like this a lot. The tiny pixel characters are quite cute if not deadly and the feel of the game is great.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Subpixel game :)
