by BCSGame - Jam Entry

We wanted to make a bit of an RTS and a bit of a tower defense with the quick gameplay and crushing difficulty of a rogue-like. Control info is in the read-me, and the game is winnable, though punishing. This was the first jam for each member of our 3 man team, and we are pretty happy with the result. Snowman easter egg, for the theme none of us wanted to win.

Edit: I wanted to give you guys a heads up since the people I've seen trying it seem a bit stumped. You hold space to generate more soldiers from the rations on the ground, and the enemies have a bit of AI that will punish you if you press forward too early. If you send a small part of your force out for rations and leave the majority back to defend the base, you'll dramatically increase your chances to win. The enemies respawn forever, so wear them down a bit before you press in to destroy their base. Good luck.

And finally, here is a video to show that the game is actually winable, got it in the second round, have won it as late as the 7th. Thank you all for playing, it's already a lot more than we expected

Games should never be easy.
They should be brutal and make you work for it.
But they also should be winnable as you said.

Reeeeally hard, way too many enemies, is this even winnable? Controlled well and graphics and sounds were good.

It is definitely winnable, but i'd say I can only beat it maybe 1 in 5 or so tries. Thank you for trying out our game, and for commenting.

Super, super hard game. I Included it in part 8 of my Ludum Dare 31 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) http://youtu.be/Z4bPWwSnLLA

This is great. You don't even care you're losing because of how spectacularly you get overwhelmed. The trees-of-war really add to the humor when the enemy swarms in.

It was difficult but amazing, although just when I'm about to win, the game begins to lag like heck and breaks ;-;

The difficulty has already been mentioned. Or maybe I just suck at it ;)
Love the graphics. Bonus points for making an RTS. There are too few in LD imo.

Grrrrr... this one is hard, but you can see the really small steps towards success. Nice job, guys!
I need to come back for this one later.

Took me a while to figure out. The readme and in-game explanations are not what I would consider well-written.
I just send out two or three men to the upper left and bottom right corners, stocking on rations, and all the while holding space. Once I had 200 men, I won with an all-in attack.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
