>> Change channels using the numeric keys 1-9. The cute character is controlled with the arrow keys. <<
Hello.
This is your good old television screen.
And a weird little man is inside it, trying to find out about something...
The cute character is controlled with the arrow keys.
Change channels using the numeric keys 1-9. Since you don't have cable those are the only channels available.
Please be safe.
Here is a walkthrough in case you don't have time to search the end or are stuck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEBTZF-CmeI
Edit: Thank you all nice people for your feedback! It is much appreciated and I am taking notes of all your suggestions in case I make a polished sequel of this! :DD
P.s.: This game was developed for the the Ludum Dare 31: Entire Game on One Screen.
Besides having all the action happening in one television screen, the theme was also applied in a more technical way: if you look at the source code, which was made in Construct 2, everything was programmed in one single screen (also known as layout in Construct).
P.p.s.: I wont tell the secret that lies within the channel 9.
Made with:
- Construct 2
- Ableton Live
- GIMP 2
- Piskel
- Love

This is very cool! What should I do after pick up the key and door? Is there any secret hiding? :D
yes tonypai, there is! i don't want to spoil it tho, just try to access one of the channels you can't at the beginning
thank you for your feedback Javabot & tonypai!
Very funny game with great gfx and sound. I found the channel witching took a bit long, but all in all great work!
Wonderful game, my only gripe about it is how there isn't a sequel
I did it! Finally! TV definitely sucks! lol
Thanks for making this game, I'm really enjoy it. :D
cool LD Theme idea and implementation! Was difficult to understand what's happening at start :D
Wonderful game. I really like the idea.
Nice simple graphics. The music fits very good.
Its not that simple. And sometime its takes a rather long time to switch the channel. But overall, very good. Well done.
Ha, I actually had the same idea but didn't go for it since I didn't know how to implement it...but you did it :D You need some trial and error but it's fun exploring and the music is actually quite atmospheric. I like it!
Original idea. Loved the channel switching and having to keep track of where you are. Great music too. So soothing and grumpy. :)
The music is creepy! and i get stucked many times changing the channels; =/
Very original concept.. love the blade runner-esque music too. Nice! :)
cool concept! didn't get what to do after opening the door though. anything more?
thanks for the feedback everyone!
@anokta: after opening the door, get the maximum to the left as you can and then go to channel 7, the cosmetic advertising channel :3
Great idea. And, yes, kinda creepy?!
I really admire entries that fully embraced the theme (I struggled this time).
The puzzle aspects of this entry are really well thought-out. Job-well done!
As mentioned before, the music is pretty fun to hear.
The fact that you do not have to download this game makes it more comfortable to play.
good game.
Cool idea and creepy 80s sci-fi-ish music :D Got the key and door, couldnt figure out the rest. Interesting!
Nice puzzle platformer with innovative concept and it really fit into the theme! GJ!
Great concept! First game I played today that sticks close to the theme. I like the music, suits the game perfectly :)
There's actually a shortcut though, no need for the key... just go to the channel with the colour stripes ;)
It might look subpar, but the idea is really good. I don't know what to do after the key, I'm assuming get to the big guy or something.
I think I would like there to be more of a "system", a way to tell that I'm going to fall or not fall besides trying everything. It's a really good smart idea, just needs a bit more design and polish :)
A very innovative use of the theme and a real brain teaser! I beat it with the help of a notepad, haha. Great work - it was fun to work out the right path through the game.
@hectorhon damn! i knew i would leave some kind of loophole D: nice find!
Challenging game, great concept! I Included it in part 2 of my Ludum Dare 31 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) http://youtu.be/QrqYJieiXWs
Interesting concept, I like your use of the theme as well :D Took me a while to wrap my head around the space X channels.
Very cool idea!! But it was really annoying to switch channels. Make it somehow smoother please.
Great twist on the theme - I got past the door and now I'm standing on a cloud next to a snowman - is that the end?
Thank you everyone for your suggestions! It is much appreciated and I am taking notes of all of them in case I make a polished sequel of this!
@Beerman: That is not the end but you are so, so, sooooo close! I made a super-quick walkthrough here if you want to see what happens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEBTZF-CmeI
Interesting idea, I was a big fan of the music and the static sound effect. NIce take on the theme
Cool concept, I really liked this, though it did take me a while to figure out what to do. Great job :)
Very cool implementation of the theme, love it!
Thanks for commenting our game.
My kids shacked to the snowmään song! :-)
Walked through using jumps and another sequence then in video. Great idea.
Great game! I eventually gave up and watched the walkthrough. Sometimes when changing channels, the player disappears and the game has to load channels a second time. If the channel switching was faster, it wouldn't be an issue.
This is interesting -- as a player I'm tempted to want to be able to see all the screens at once, so I can strategically try to figure out where to go. But this definitely hearkens back to an earlier age of adventure gaming where players had to figure everything out for themselves, and there's definitely value in that. Nice work!
Pretty cool idea for the game. The channel switching worked well. Nice art and music. The character could perhaps have had little floatier jump.
Great game, I love the concept, there's a lot of possibilities on it.
The music is soooo strange, but very fitting! :)
The best use of the theme I have seen so far!
Wow, that was some trippy stuff. I really liked the concept but without reading the info I wouldn't have known to change the channels with the number pad or to move the character. Definitely a game of discovery and playing around to get a grip of the game which is cool in its own right. (I got up to unlocking the door)
Cool idea! Takes a little time to figure out what channels to use. Graphics are pretty fun too :)
I've got the went to the door. The door disappeared and I don't know what to do next. It is very unique game congrats :D
A perfect idea for the theme, but the cost of die & retry is maybe too high, it would be interesting to previz the other level in thumbnail or not die directly.
Really fun game, concept is very funny. Enjoyed it, nice job!
Very innovative, nice graphics, sounds, and good game overall. Great job
I wasn't actually that keen on this entry - the mechanic was interesting to play with, and remembering every screen was tough, but it was lacking quite a lot of polish. Some of the text looks like it was scribbled together in MSPaint or something, and the music was fairly repetitive.
It would have been interesting if the music changed with each channel, and the transitioning between channels was made smoother - the huge grey background and obtrusive noise wasn't really the best way to go about this.
Death wasn't really punishing, but I guess that kind of worked. You kept all your items, and nothing really happened.
There wasn't much content or story - I wasn't attached to the character in any way, he was just "a graphical glitch on my television" so finding true love didn't really make me feel anything. The platforming physics weren't the greatest - it allowed you to get stuck in blocks and stuff - but it just about worked.
Heh, your idea was similar to mine, but I like the way you've executed it as a puzzle-platformer. There were a few bugs, though--it was easy to get stuck in objects when changing channels, and if you "died," sometimes I would get stuck in some kind of infinite static loop.
By being very careful and by following the walkthrough I was able to finish it. I don't know what made you choose this type of music, but it's a nice, mellow, weird kind of track that fits well.
Cool idea, good use of the theme, fun and challenging. Haunting music, good graphics, and some humour to cap it off ;) All round a great entry!
Pretty cool idea, but it's easy to win the game by just switching to the snowman channel right at the start after jumping, so you don't have to get the key and unlock the door ^-^
Hey ! I loved it, I love the idea. You should explain how to change channel in the game, it seems obvious when you know, but at first I was about to quit xD. I loved the music and the overall weird late night tv vibe (a bit of twin peaks ?). Also one funny thing, I finished the game without the key.
Cool idea! I found if a bit hard to get it initially but once you get the grasp of it it's totally fun!
Really good use of theme! Fun to play, and nice audio! The Twin Peaks referece, just made my day! Damn good cup of game!
Very cool idea. Could use a lot more presentational polish and gameplay tweaks though, I think the player control is a bit slow, and transitioning between the channels takes a little bit too long. Really cool take on the theme though.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
This was a very fun game to play, and the music fit everything. I am happy this game exists.
