The Harvest Sparrows

by Kazura - Compo Entry

A french play on words from the movie "Le Silence des Agneaux", to "La Vendange des Moineaux"

In this game, you control a sparrow with the mouse pad and you need to make points by harvesting farmers'crops.
These men are not happy and they hunt you to the death !
You must complete objective to go to the next level and finish the game.
There are only 3 levels in the games, due to time but I can the say that the last is pretty hard :D

I use C2 for a month now, this Jam was a bigger session than all the hours I passed on it.
I had some difficulty on concept, that's why I chose an idea that I wrote a few months ago.

At first, this game was thought to be better for a smartphone or tablet use, but I would firstly experiment it on computer.

I liked the music a lot. I still dont get the idea how to to get the full score out of the crops. There also are some issues with the readability of the blue font. But I still had fun with the game.

Thanks for your answer, I'm glad you enjoyed it and specially the music !
About score question, it forces to have a good strategy for taking a maximum of points on the crops.
There are a good few issues you're right, I finished the game at the last moment, it was also my first created.

I wish I could hear the music (something went wrong and it was silent for me)

Fun little concept, good instructions (take it from someone who's instructions page failed miserably!) I might make it appear on the screen a bit longer though

Overall pretty good. It even worked on my tablet. There was one bug where turning the music off didn't keep the off though

One of the best music of this LD by far! Great song, goes perfectly with the bird game. The game is fairly simple, catchy and fun. I see how it could definetely be adapted to a tablet/phone. A couple of things could be improved: the font for score comes out really weird. Also a way to pause or read the instructions without having the game play would be a huge plus :) Great job

How do you get to 300 ? O_o If I stay on the same place I don't get more point than if I move around...
Anyways, fun idea and good graphics/music. :)

I can't thank you enough for your all pleasant comments, it's really cool and motivating for me ! :)

There is potential here for sure, but right now I find the game lacks consistency. Did you actually create all of these assets (and music) yourself?
On another note, congrats for finding the time to add instructions, a mute button and an end screen. It makes the game feels more complete.

I like the bird movement. Really felt like the bird was flying. It was lots of fun to be a little bird and life its life - lol. Good Game!

Neat! Difficult, though. I played a few times, but I still don't quite know how close you have to be to the plants, or whether you have to stay still...Also, I was waiting for the "Level 1 Start" text to disappear, but while I was waiting I got game over. :P That was a little unexpected, to say the least. Still, all in all it's a good effort. ;)

Struggled with it for a bit. Difficulty is a bit high. Great music though. Instructions and buttons tended to overlap at times. Got to level 2 and died instantly which was annoying. Nice concept though!

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
