This game is essentially a simplified RTS-style game where you fight off waves of enemy units.
The name Space Navels is a joke name that came up early on in planning, but we never thought of a better one. Something about it being like a naval battle in space. That was almost 72 hours ago, though. Who knows what really happened.
Instructions are on the page. It was my friend Ryan and I's first game jam, so we're proud just to have something playable. :) It was his first time using Unity and the first time I've worked on a game in a long time, so we weren't sure what to expect going in. It was definitely an experience.
As far as the game itself goes, we think it's moderately fun and hope you will too!

Kind of a brilliant idea kind of destroyed by insane controls. Shift+Left click to fire? What?!
Nice game, but the controls are really awkward. But I like the visual style a lot.
The game gets a little confusing due to the unintuitive controls, but the sprites are nice and it's certainly keeping in with the theme.
the controls are a bit cumbersome, but once you get past them the combat in this game is extremely satisfying.
Haha, that's some chaotic fun! The only thing I'd suggest is to maybe change the controls.
Like the idea, one of my favourite genres. The controls hampered the game a little
The controls a are difficult for me, but the graphics and weapons are cool.
Hard game to play but I love idea and graphics.
The controls need to be switched to left click select, right click move and shift left click shoot.
I like the ships and different shooting areas, but if a single ship is already difficult to control, with that many, I'm definitely losing all of them :D
very good game, I just hope it could play faster but your idea for it its real good
This.. this is too hard for me >3<
I liked the design of the ships. they look very cool!
Congratulations.
Cool idea and I liked the art, but I really couldn't get my head around the controls.
The control might be a bit too complex. The graphic style is good, and the idea is interesting, good job!
Great entry, fit's the theme, fun to play, just gets repetitive and hard to control everything that is happening! Still fun
The controls are what make this game so complex but it could be so much more fun with regular RTS controls! I like the graphics and the action of the game. It can get confusing at times. Good entry overall.
There is a lot of content here, but the controls felt unresponsive and there was too much happening at once to keep track. Also I would of preferred if not all the weapons on a ship fired at once, maybe just the ones facing the cursor?

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
These ships are so bad ass. I love the designs and colors.
