My first real Unreal Engine 4 project and my first Ludum Dare entry! Scale the mountain in a challenging, yet beautiful platformer in an attempt to get the entire view on one screen!
Controls:
A / Q / Left arrow - move left
D / Right arrow - move right
W / Z / Up arrow / Space - jump

BREAKING NEWS!
HTML5 version now available! For all non-Windows users, you can now play "Enjoy the View!" online! PLEASE NOTE: I don't recommend the web version. It has no dynamic lighting, the physics are glitchy, the framerate is lower, and the game is prone to crashing. If you run into any of these issues, please do not count them against my score; HTML5 is an "experimental" build target from Unreal Engine. I've had the best luck playing it in Chrome 64-bit. Firefox 32-bit and Firefox nightly both crash. Also note that the game requires ~1.5 GB in web mode (versus 200-400 MB in desktop mode).

Doh! I was busy trying to get HTML5 compiling to work and moved the project out of DropBox because it filled up. I've moved the Windows project back in.
The character is sooo cute, and the graphics is also great.(Unreal is awesome!) It can be better if there is something that can indicate the progress for the player.
@ynots: ='( the links are working for me
@Team Flashlight: Thanks! Yes, Unreal's graphics are great after working in Unity for so long! I never considered adding a progress indicator, but that could be a good idea.
I don't see how this game fits the theme, frankly.
Unreal's graphics are great and you did a good use of them, but they make the character's lack of animation and weird collision box be even more noticeable.
anyway, good job for a compo entry!
@DrGeraud: I enjoy hard games but I might have gone a little overboard in my crazed, lack of sleep, state =P
@Rodaja: did you manage to get to the end? That's where the theme gets tied in. And yeah, I have a long ways to learn with UE4. Thanks for playing!
Very nice graphics... I'd like to keep playing but I need to go back to work... and got really stuck on the moving blocks part (The ones who push you away from the platform)... I really wanted to go a higher place but I have to accept my fate! :P
Congratzz for the game!
played for 2 hours and couldn't get to the end. When you get ON the platforms that are moving back and forth from the wall, if you jump from the before last one, you get thrown away or in the wall and have to restart. could get through this part but the graphics are awesome
Would've liked the controls to be a little more responsive. Maybe it's just a lack of air control?
Hello again :) This was fun to play, but after a bunch of tries on one part I had to give up. But trying to make it was addictive and just the right kind of tough where I felt like it was possible and it was my own terrible play that held me back
@victorafael: you have to jump! I didn't have enough time to get UE4's phyisics working right so that they'd push you =(
@Marcellus: woah! Two hours?! I'm glad you enjoyed it, except for the whole, way too hard part.
@BarrensZeppelin: I agree the controls could have been better. If I were to make another platformer I would make you stop mid-air when not pushing a direction. That would have made things easier
@DefectiveMelon: I'm glad you tried a few times instead of giving up right away!

It seems like I've made this game too difficult. Since the game is beatable I can't patch it per LD rules. However, I did add a video playthrough to give some ideas on how to win.
Wow, really choppy in-browser. Nice graphics though :) very seasonal and festive
@snickersnack: play the windows version! HTML5 is an experimental feature of Unreal Engine!
You should have removed debug information file pdb, it takes really a lot of space. The game itself looks beautiful, but character controls are quite bad. Maybe it also caused by the fact that I have ~15 fps, but it was really difficult.
@dvdking: wow, thanks! I didn't notice that so far down in the folder. Yeah this definitely wouldn't be playable at ~15 fps. Can I ask what GPU/CPU you have? I only got to test this on a beefy computer
Looks good. Player should rotate only when velocity changes not when in mid air and just want to slow down. Then he should keep facing the way he's going. Looks weird
Frenchie,I have CPU i5-3350P and GPU GeForce GT 630
It is below average configuration I think.
Damn! This game is hard. Good work. You just missed the theme.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Great job. Thanks for the checkpoints. Awesome visuals! :)
