Meowcalypse

by Bonobo Games & Mechanic Moon - Jam Entry

“In the year 20000 the evolution of domestic cats and other animals rule the world. But they have a mortal enemy, the cephalopods, who capture and use the cats for their evil purposes. One of these purposes is the study of one of the never-yet-resolved human physic theories…”
You’re the cat in the box… will you survive?

Very cool graphics and very nice intro and animations. I like the animations and the art. Good entry and keep working and improving!

I enjoyed, but I think it should be much harder, right now it's very easy to survive infinitely.

I like it! The art is very well done! The only thing I don't like is that there is too much inertia for the character, that makes it a bit difficult to control.

I enjoyed the theme and story of the game. Fun gameplay, but seemed a little glitchy (sometimes it seemed that clicks didn't work, and squid shot through the walls).

Nice work, very polished for a weekend game :)

Cool idea, good looking. There are some bugs, though: we can go & shoot through walls, and even exit the arena.
Seems like there's no difficulty curve either =/

Globally good, but too easy. Great graphics, nice sounds fx !
Maybe some enemies with more hp would be nice.

Cats and post-apocalypse never fail! :D Nice little shooter!

Well done!
Looks great, but kinda hard to control.

Keep up the great work!

Glitchy with the gates, so I can just hang out in them forever and not worry about enemies. Fun graphics and decent sound. When you run out of laser power you still get the sound for shooting. Loved the intro but it was a bit hard to stomach some of the bad grammar. This game gets a bit old after a few minutes, there could have been more upgrades. Overall, good job.

Very solid arena shooter, I especially liked the meowing sounds when you got hit. Could do with a bit more challenge and maybe some powerups, extra levels, etc, etc... But obviously there are limits to what you can do in the timeframe. Also very interesting what you can achieve in Stencyl.

Great gameplay, concept, graphics!
But the difficulty seems the same all time.

I may be a little biased because I LOVE CATS, but this is super cool. Especially dig the cat animation, great game!

Awesome work on the graphics and audio. Fun little game, but I agree with other comments that the difficulty curve could use some work.

Awesome graphics! Wish the game difficulty curve be longer, but I know it is due to time brackets.

Ok, would like to see this game in a dungeon crawler or something of that sort.

This is a great looking and sounding game. The controls are smooth as well. The difficulty doesn't really ramp up as I expected, so I eventually just let them destroy me so I could see my death animation. Solid entry.

Nice work, style and music. Needs more variation, but it's a good game. I liked the sense of zero gravity, great!

Solid entry, congratulations! I was doing very well, but suddenly I clicked outside the frame and the movements went crazy.

Dec 18, 2014 @ 6:04am

Really nice art, and I love the story, really funny. Unfortunately, I got stuck in the floor, and enemies stopped coming...? Anyway, great, fun entry.

Fantastic art and premise! The zero-gravity controls were cool, too.

Nice shooting action but I felt like it was pretty easy to survive for a long time without trying too hard. Good art & sound (though also a few sound bugs).
Controls felt nice but without the difficulty in there it is hard to say how they really stand up :)

Really awesome graphics and audio. The controls did feel a bit slippy though

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
