The Farmer II

by drZool - Jam Entry

A farmer simulator. There is no win state, just run around and do stuff, farmer style! It has 8 Acheivements, well 9 but the last one is unpossible!

Arrows + Spacebar

Using Unity 4.6
It was intended for the compo, but I ran out of time. Completed it for the jam instead. Using the stricter rules of the 48h version.

You should put your TheFarmer_Web.html and TheFarmer_Web.unity3d files in one zip file, or in your Public Dropbox folder.
You can't play it with only the .html file!

I grew some crops. Then I wondered what the point of growing crops was, so I stopped and chased some birds around instead. yay :D

Wow this is very well made! Extremely detailed.
I liked how the chicks try to fly away when you walk towards them.

Next time try to add a little bit of audio, and a goal to achieve, that way it'll be perfect :D

Also: Winner winner chicken dinner!!!

I have no idea how to win this game, but I must say this was definitely one of the coolest entries I've played so far :D

The graphics are awesome. The fox (it's not dog me thinks...) is cool, and chickens are most awesome. Perspective is different for the storage, well and cart but that sort of fits perfectly.

I managed to crow crops and do stuff but chickens vanished somewhere. I wonder how to get more chickens. I tried throwing corn there but no luck.

Nice entry, well done.

Animations were nice! I could definitely see this expanded to a more complete farming-sandbox game. Very cool!

Being a big fan of games like Harvest Moon, I do know the appeal of cute little pixelated farm simulators -- though I do feel that this needed some form of win/lose condition.

Something along the lines of, you needed to farm a certain amount of food within a given time, or have to fend the fox off from the chickens while you farm -- anything, really. It's a neat little toy that you can play around with on its own, but to garner more feedback and really give the feel that you are doing something right, it really does need some sort of condition or point system.

For what it is, though, it is cute. Would have liked sound or effects or soft music playing in the background, though! :)

Nice, but sometimes when I want to plant some seeds, it doesn't work I don't know why.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
