by SelfishGenome - Compo Entry

This is my first solo LD and second time entering.

the game is an Isometric survival game with two play types, campaign with 8 levels or an endless survival mode. Both options provide a range of power ups with no limit to how powerful your weapons can become.

The power ups you pick up control speed, power, health and dual weapons. Telling you which is which would spoil the fun, but they activate automatically.

You may not get far on on your first few tries but with perseverance and getting the right drops you can survive almost indefinitely.

This was my first attempt making music/sfx for a game. I used MAGIX.
c4D for modelling, a little PS and Unity.

UPDATE: Rebuilt in 4.6.1 so it should work properly as a pc build now and on the web player. Also moved from GoogleDrive to Dropbox so hopefully traffic will be better handled.

Great game! Looks really good!
At first it was really slow and the yellow blocks took a lot of time to kill. After a few upgrades, though, I became a powerhouse and killed everything with ease. It was nice.

Oh, just so you know: the link to Web seems to be taking do a Windows build instead.

Thanks zanenga I put the link in the wrong box, as I mention in my description, building in unity 4.6 beta breaks the unity web player :(.

Clicking on the Windows link says the folder can no longer be viewed. Google probably didn't like the traffic.

Just tried the link again, it seems to work, just right click ld31 and download.

Game looks awesome, I love this art style. I wish the weapon was at least two times stronger and also the clouds are little annoying sometimes.

I really liked the graphics. The game controls felt solid. The music and sound effects fit the game well.

Nice lookingwith good music. Lovely environment. A bit slow at first but it gets better. And unlike mine, it's a real game. Thumbs up!

Quite fun, although slow at first. I love the visuals style and the way arena is designed. You can't see more than half of it and it seems strange and bad, but after few rounds you realize you don't have any business there anyway. :D

It doesn't work for me. Ok, I see, I am not using 4.6 beta :(

Great graphics! I love the lowpoly, and the color choice. I like what you did out of that Unity tutorial. Unfortunately, the "AI" is too predictable, and weirdly they halt every now and then when I start moving, not sure why. Also, good job on the music!

Very great game! I loved every minute of it. I beat the campaign (And on my first try even :) ) - I found it very rewarding killing cubes, and I loved how you manged to animate them in a way that actually gave them life. Awesome job! My favorite game for this dare so far!

Very cool little "bullet hell" game, the trees looked very cool, would love to see this game developed future :D

It's an awesome game, I think it would be better if you reduce the trees and rocks for better view. Great game anyway :)

Wow, very very good art work. I love isometric games.

I really like the art style of the game. fun gameplay. although there were 2 things that could have made the experience even better, first being the cloud sometimes obstructs most of my playing area, and i am unable to see like 30% of the play area, and i died coz of it once. the second being, the level design could have allowed more freedom of movement by giving more choices in the paths that the player can follow. it was a pain, going around the same 2-3 paths i can take. But overall, i would say those are just little things that make the already great experience even better. good work overall :)

Great artstyle, I love the low poly models!

Maybe you could have pushed for adding more effects to your game, like bigger particle effects and maybe that the screen bounces when the boss is introduced or is walking around! I myself is trying to think of that when I'm developing, it really enhances the mood/ feel! :)

The laser coming out from the cube when you shoot is not visible at all. It took me few tries to realize that. I feel like there is a lot of grinding in the game starting from level 1 :). How do you use those crystals that you collect, do they automatically come into play? There was no mention of it or how it works?

I like the level art! Overall its a good game.

man i never thought boxes could be scarier then zombies or something but damn i might not sleep well tonight

Dec 18, 2014 @ 2:17pm

Cool game, only drawbacks seem to be the slow speed in the beginning and the clouds/trees constantly blocking your vision (which led to my death after succeeding for a few rounds :( ), otherwise it's good fun and a very nice art style.

Well done. You breath life into this boss pretty well with just shapes colors and move behaviors. Of course there was some problem with the view + masked zone but it let you fulfil the theme pretty well, so I think it's ok.

Cool. I like the level, but the hero seems to me too basic. Well done ++

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
