Sound effects would really improve this entry. Just grab a microphone and hit random stuff in front of it. You'd be amazed at how much it improves the game :D

Great, although the later levels became quite boring as I was just circling the enemies and shooting off the outside ones. It started lagging quite badly on level 8 (is that level even possible?)

I can't start.
jk i know how.

That aside, good game! The only bug i found is when changing level, sometimes enemies spawn at you.

Very simple, but fun. Liked the concept of choosing how you level up as you progress. Would have liked to strafe up and down too, but I can imagine how time constrains you, especially on your first LD. And btw, great job finishing in time for the compo, I certainly didn't on my first time.

I enjoyed it, but other people may think it is too simple.

Good fun, even without the audio. I got to level 9 :-)

Even some super-basic sound and music would help a lot, but I feel like the gently pulsing waves of enemies would be a good match for a moody, liquid music. Try Earslap's web-based musical instrument Circuli if you haven't already -- it's super easy.

I found the "SHIFT" control a bit hard to work with -- I kept pressing the wrong button. I think I would have found it easier if SHIFT (temporarily) turned off the "turn to the direction of movement" and the cursor keys moved in the same direction regardless of whether SHIFT was on or off.

Excellent first entry! I look forward to more :-)

Thanks everyone for feedbacks ! It has been a pleasure to build something even without some kind of original content.

I'll gathering some more knowledge for the next dare and trying to do better

Like how you embed the menu in the game to respect the theme.
Strife is so slooooooow without upgrade, make it really difficult.

Lvl 6 at first try, will probably give it another try ;)

The best thing about this game is it is actually fun to play! Simple ingredients mixed into a great cocktail!

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
