It Has Already Begun

by justinooncx - Compo Entry

What are you waiting for?! It has already begun!

Classic running and gunning! How long can you survive? More importantly, how many of those bastards will you take with you to your grave?!

===================================================

A simple game made to test mechanics that I enjoyed along with experimenting with a new engine. Nothing really ground-breaking, but it's the first of it's kind of games that I've made. Also the first time I've composed music on my own, using Chirp composer.

Loved this jam. Forced me to think simple and small. That meant more time for polishing the design. More importantly, more time to scope for bugs. It's a pity that I couldn't get the fonts to work, so you'll have to settle with Tahoma.

EDIT: Also, post your high scores! I'd like to see how difficult the game is to others. My personal best at the moment is 253.

Pretty fun, and a lot more mechanics than any other game I've seen so far.

Sorry, but I don't have the exporters in Clickteam Fusion 2.5 for other platforms. I really wish I did, though.

Just in case, I tried using Wine to run this on Mac OS X. It didn't work :-(

My Wine setup doesn't have "Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls".

This is really good and fun, a lot more things to do and you have to pay attention to a lot of things, which makes it challenging!

Sweet game dude! The only thing I would like to improve is A)Scroll to change weapons (Instinct from other games; although thats just me :) ) and a background with tiles. I really like the style of the black and white art though, and the guns n powerups were cool :D Great job!

Nicely done. Though it seemed the actual firing of the guns wasn't very responsive. Probably just a tech issue though. Awesome style to this one well done.

Pretty fun game.
I got stuck in the top dodging, though.

This is quite fun. Something nice and simple, controls are good, and while simple, it focused well on game play which overlooked to often. Also I like the subtle facial expressions and little details in the game. It's got a lot of personality and commend you for that.

I really like this, great art style, good intro.
Two different weapons, and a few power ups.
Excellent.

Fun game, very nostalgic cause of the graphics style. Love the powerups!

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
