The idea behind this was to take an RPG, strip it down to the bare bones mechanics and squash the entire game-world onto one screen. The resulting game would appear to be an RPG for ants. Enjoy (hopefully)!
It's a Java game programmed on windows, so it should work on any windows pc with java installed. It may work on other OS's, but no guarantees (if it does, please let me know!).
Used BFXR to create sound effects; graphics are hardcoded.
Controls:
Movement: WASD/Arrow Keys
Aim: mouse curser
Default attack: Left mouse button (can be held)
Special attacks: 1, 2, 3
Restart: ESC/Enter
Controls & instructions are in the 2nd picture (also in the zip).

Good game, good concept.
The game could use a little path finding in it, though.
Often the enemies would get stuck on a wall and allow me to endlessly shoot them.
I think you should work on this for a post compo version!
Nice small and fun game, but the player and enemies are very hard to see clearly. You didn't really have to make them as small as an ant, lol
That was actully pretty cool!
When I first loaded it, to be honest I didn't think it would have much (any) content. Then I saw that there were multiple extra attacks and enimies and changed my mind! Really cool game. If you had more time, maybe work on the graphcs, otherwise really good!
Looks fun, but this is the only game so far where my anti-virus software gives me warnings about the download ... so I dare not play it, sorry (Of course I don't rate it either).
Way more fun than I expected! The special attacks and enemy types made it for me. I'd love to see you add some polish to the game post-compo.
Amazing! A little art + your particle fx and it's a perfect little game:) Also, ai is cool!
Really enjoyed that :D but very difficult with a trackpad!
I found the gameplay really enjoyable, even surprisingly so! The little particle effects were satisfying and reminded me of many old classics like Spheres of Chaos. Those red enemies are really mean! With more varied level designs and some side goals this could become a really wonderful thing :)
Great! It's like a more action-focused ZZT! :D AI is kinda dumb, but super-mean. Please make it into a bigger and deeper game. :D
Don't want to sound like I'm advertising myself, but you may want to check my one-screen rpg.
Cheers!
What is this? An RPG for ants? It needs to be atlas 3 times bigger.
Looks pretty manic, so much going on.
Not really an RPG but it's definitely for ants! Fun little game.
I wish I could resize the window, it hurts my eyes after a while! But its a neat little game. I like the special abilities, and how it is randomly generated (I think).
Cool game, a tad difficult but challenging. The visuals could have been a bit more anty. (Yes the title is a bit misleading but heh no big deal).
Fun little design, and I have a few thoughts. I would have preferred to see a line-of-sight system rather than area of detection, which results in shots coming from rooms that you can't reach. The controls were easy to manage, but that dying sound... it hurt my ears. lol

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
I can of don't understand why it's a RPG and not an action game, but well. The screen is really small on my macbook pro retina on windows, but I it's not your fault I guess !
Still, some nice ideas, it lacks a bit of graphics but the gameplay is nice nontheless.
