Zombie Armageddon

by Basim - Jam Entry

*Alternate download

In a land riddled with zombies, you find yourself the lone survivor of a mass outbreak. You are caught unaware in the middle of the fight with only your trusty shotgun for protection. How long can you survive?

Zombie Armageddon is an arcade shooter made entirely in the 72 hours using:

Java - Language
LibGDX - Game Engine
BFXR - Sound Effects
SunVox - Music Track
GIMP - Graphics

This is my first Ludum Dare project after having programmed for 3 years and in Java with libGDX for the past 1.5 years. Had lots of fun (and sometimes frustration) with this project and it was originally planned for the 48 hour competition but unfortunately I couldn't finish it on time. Enjoy the game!

Really nice music, the gameplay is simple but the sound volume are not well balanced

Thank's for this funny little game. Good start and great job. We (cause we are a team) just have a question, it's a old female or a soldier? Cause i think that was a grand'ma. ^^

The game would really profit from a strafing mechanic, but a nice little shooter nonetheless.

Very simple, could need some more polishing.

neat little game but a bit to simple for my taste

pretty fun. Could use some control tweaking. Not being able to move backwards and shoot forward was a little off putting. Overall, a decent effort.

Nice game!

The music is really great! The Sfx were a bit too loud, compared to the music volume.

Gameplay is nice, but you could improve the hitbox for getting hit by zombies, because sometimes it looked, like I shouldn't be touched. I didn't get, when the shotgun was in rapid fire mode. Some visual indication for this would be nice.

All in all great game!

P.S.: My high score was 132 :)

Nice work! I felt a little lack of precision in the collision. However, I liked the concept and the gameplay. Fits very well with the theme. And the music is pretty good! I'm curious to download and check the SunVox.
Congrats for finishing the game in your first Ludum Dare. I failed on my first two attempts hahaha
My best is 172, so far.

Being unable to move and shoot at a different directions is definitely an issue. The game could have been enhanced by adding some dodging mechanic or some progression via upgrades.

Congrats on finishing your first entry.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
