Das Tank Game

by RaycoSantana - Compo Entry

A simple tank game, I didnt know what to do so you know... "when in doubt go Arcade"

You can play with the WASD and Mouse or an Xbox controller (recomended), WASD/left analog stick moves the tank, mouse/right analog stick rotates the Tank's turret hold left click/right trigger to fire and hold right click/left trigger to place mines (comsumes ammo), the game is infinite. Have fun ;)

The best part is when you get the machine gun powerup.

Kinda confusing to play with a keyboard and mouse, but fun nontheless.

The game is too hard and the controls of the tank too. But I liked the graphics though. Abit more storyline would have been nice here

Great game. Both the music and the graphics were good though the keyboard and mouse controls were a little awkward.

A tip for the future: Always give the reason not to hold down a button, or remove the button and set it as a default. Why shouldn't I just constantly hold down the mouse button? (pushback, redused velocity, reduced turning torque ammo etc.)

All I could see was the title screen... not sure how to progress from there. Tried pushing all the buttons and couldn't start the game.

Good game. But difficult to aim as we have no info about the position of the mouse.

Sorry, I couldn't start the game... Clicked, pressed buttons... Not sure what I was supposed to do? Tried everything...

@seledorn: I have no clue what are you talking about, if you are talking about holding the fire button for shooting, that was intentional and is regulated with a delay, in fact is expected that you hold the button all the time to shot (is in the description). When you get the machine gun power up the delay is shorter so it looks like you are shooting a machine gun but its temporal, it last like 10 seconds.

Hectic fun. Nice sound and graphics! Enjoyed picking up the weapon powerups.

Thanks all for the comments, the way the Tank moves is intentional, what was not intentional was the turret rotation I wanted it to work with both X and Y axis like old school top down shooters but I couldnt get it to work :( , thats why its a little confusing, the turret should rotate towards the mouse coordinates, I will try to fix it in a post compo edition.

This reminded me of that little tank game: battle city. nintendo? in the 80s? oh well i'm old.

Maybe if you tried to make it playable with a wasd and mouse it would be much fun for me. And maybe try the orthogonal view just like the orientation battle city had.

But I had fun nonetheless :)

The control scheme is weird but awesome once you get used to it. I had a score of around 3110 before I stopped. Honestly, I usually have small critiques on these games, but the only thing I can think of for you is to make more stuff. Multi-player, more levels, etc... and the power ups need some balancing, but the game is really fun!

The controls make this game too hard to play.

Actually pretty fun! Looks really good! The controls were a bit wonky, but maybe that's because I don't have an xbox controller.

Would have worked better if you shot towards your mouse. Well put together though. Good job!

You can't wrong with arcade can you ? Awesome piece of fun !! A bit to play with keyboard and mouse, but still loads of fun :) Too bad you don't display the score at the end of a game. I can't keep an eye on the score while playing :D

I love the level setup and graphics. The controls were pretty hard though. The music was by Fake Music Generator, right? :P

Hi there. Like the look and driving feel. The turret is basically impossible to control with keyboard+mouse. Love the martial oompah music. Good job!

A great game with bad controls and confusing perspective. Loved it, but it hurts. Tough loving game.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
