Daddy Ghoul

by Maxom - Compo Entry

!I now included a bugfix version I made after the Jam!
!Of course you can play the normal Version, but there was an bug you could abuse very easy!

!Might be a problem with the Light on Windows 32-Bit!
!Please tell me if it's to dark and I'll fix it!

Try to die. It won't be a problem. In fact, it's the only way to complete the game.
Let your corpses rot away, but be carefull that the ghosts don't eat them. Rotten corpses will spawn bugs, who are killing ghosts.
If every ghost is dead, you win.

The whole idea was to integrate your old tries into the new try, so you get an entire game on one screen. Then, it became a little bit different.

Was pretty good except seemed kind of meticulous more than fun. Consider adding another element.

380 mb? Really? A runtime? Gosh, so much work. But worth it! The game is fun, good looking, and the mechanic is interesting. The win condition isn't very exciting (honestly I didn't even expect to win) but seeing the bugs going after the ghosts after you've drawn them away is pretty neat.

The Graphics are solid, but audio would have added alot to the mood.
I didn't understand what I was supposed to do. I thought I had to evade the ghosts as they were killing me. I read your description now, I wish I had known this before.

I didn't understood what i was supposed to do at first, I needed to read the instructions.
The mechanic idea is very interesting, but need a bit of refinement (the first time I won without even moving, and the second time it seemed very tedious)
The graphics are neat, and overall, good idea but not easy to grasp at first

I like the mood of the game!

I guess the game isn't dark, probably your video card doesn't support Unreal Engine shaders or some other stuff. I have a poor Intel HD graphics card here in the office, the game is completely black, there are lights and ghosts only, everything else is "dark". I'll try to get an nVidia card or I'll try at home later. :)

Good game. Presentation is nice and gameplay is an interesting concept, although a bit easy perhaps.
A simple audio track would have greatly enhanced the already good atmosphere.
Lighting was good for me in Win-32 Version.

First time i see a game using this engine. The runtime memory is a bit high but who really cares in the end. There is a lighting issue, strange...

I really liked the idea, and the graphics were kinda nice. No audio though, which is a real shame! :( I liked the idea for the game mechanics - they were very original!

Maybe next time, try and have your download a little smaller. I wasn't expecting this to take a full 784 MB on my hard drive :(

Interesting mechanic... so you have to die in a place that's safe and then lure guys away with your next life so the corpse rots and spawns bugs to kill the ghosts? Haha that was a long sentence.

Graphics and lighting was very pretty and a unique mechanic indeed! Nice job

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
