Saw screenshots on twitter. Loved the gif. Unfortunately I'm having issues running JAVA games on my mac. :(
Good game! Needs some variety though, but it sets the "arena" mood very well!
@LexGear, what kind of issues? I'd love to try and help if possible.
@sorlok, thanks! I agree and we wanted more/different enemy types, but ran short on time (like always).
Simple concept, a lot of fun. I love the rolling. I became a boss at evading that way after a while. I got a score of 13700! Not sure if that's a good score or not though.
I think that beats any score of mine so far. :) Thanks!
Fun little brawler. Would like a bit more depth to combat. Slash and run, rinse repeat works. Like crowd!
I really liked the art style! The gameplay itself gets a little stale after a while, but the challenge of avoiding hits makes up for it a little i feel.
Just wondering - what's your own highscore? This game is pretty hard :)
Wow man, we had a great time playing this game. Everything it tried to be it definitely succeeded. Probably our favorite entry so far. Great job!
@ViliX64, we agree! It was on the nice-to-have-but-not-vital-to-core-game-play list. :)
@Germanunkol, a quick run just now got me to 8000 flat so not too bad.
@fergarram, Hi which link isn't working for you? I'll check it out.
Oh yeah 4100 points haha. Actually a lot of fun. Agreed, combos and shielding would add so much more layers to it + enemies with different weapons and LIONS :D
@ Trite Games, If we could improve it now, I'd probably add more enemy types including lions. Glad you enjoyed it :D
Nice game! Simple concept but very well executed.
It would have been nice if the crowd woud support you with healtphpotions or a shield when you reach certain scores (like in the hunger games).
@runvs, thank you! And we agree that was another on-the-list item.
I really liked the aesthetic of this game. There was a lot of nice little details in it. I was a little confused with how my sword works as sometimes it felt like I couldn't stab for what seemed like no reason.
this was so epic, and brought my wildest dreams to life in pixel form. Kudos. Kudos. FOR SPARTA
The timing on the slash felt a little bit long for the hit-and-run type combat mechanics I think you were going for, but it wasn't a huge issue. I really liked the graphics!
Hmm it was a bit too easy for me. Avoiding damage is simple once you get the hang of it. Before I stopped I scored 52200. It needs some variety to spice it up and add some challenge. Regardless, it was very well done. Congrats! =)
Having trouble on Mac. When pressing Enter to start, the game crashes.
Nice game but it needed a little more. May more variety enemies? Nice Job.
Great animations! The game happens very far down the screen, you could use more of the screen-space.
I wanted more depth from the gameplay
Small note: the high score didn't update with my score on the first death.
Ahah remind me Barbarian game, hard to bit but really fun to play, gfx is also very cool, nice work !
There is a great color palette going in this one. The muted, sandy tones give a very immediate "gladiator" appearance and feel. It fits the theme very well, and the way the character handles is quite good.
The only thing I had repeated issues with was the responsiveness of the sword and actually swinging/hitting enemies. A lot of my sword swings didn't seem to register while interacting with the enemies -- either the sword didn't swing at all, or it swung a few milliseconds after hitting the space bar. There was no real problem without enemies on the screen, but once they came on board, I had a hard time slaughtering them. The sword swings were also a challenge to hit. I didn't know if I was supposed to keep them on the tip of my sword, or somewhere in the middle, or something else, due to the sticky interactions. :(
The game does need a bit more balance in terms of fighting, and it needs more content, but overall, it's definitely one of the more visually appealing games out there. :) Good work!
Nice one. Controls a a little tough at first. Good looking game.

I had fun playing this game. good arts.
I only hoped if there were some more mechanics, because it felt doing the same stuff over and over after a while. maybe some enemy types would help.
I awarded you a trophy. This post explains why: http://ludumdare.com/compo/2014/12/13/my-picks-for-ld31s-top-10-best-beards-manly-mustaches/
Downloaded the Mac build. Tried twice but none of my attacks ever hit the enemy. However, enemy is able to attack me. May be its mac specific or may be its my machine. I am not OSX 10.10.1.
Enjoyed it, couple of problems though. Felt the invulnerable-flash was too long, and you could just stun lock an enemy AI since they would never move or attack while invulnerable. Also, got repetitive for obvious reasons.

You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Fun and pretty! A little hard not to get hit, though :P
