Disclaimer: This game is incomplete. It was my first time doing Ludum Dare, and I've never completed a game before. Also, I didn't start until Saturday due to no inspiration from the theme. I never expected to rate well, but I also refused to give up. Incomplete game > no game.
Update: There is a web version now. It should be noted that HaxeFlixel's web builder is in beta. All text in the game is not rendering correctly, but the game works fine as far as I can tell.
Update #2: Added Linux and Mac builds. I have no idea if either of those work, so if you happen to use them, please comment and let me know.
Update #3: It seems that the web version starts to lag pretty badly after a minute or so of playing. Downloading the game will be your best bet.
Update #4: I fixed the lag issue for the web version at the expense of showing your health. But now it shows the kill counter lol. That's beta for you.
This is just a basic shmup. The goal is to survive and kill as many mobs as you can.
Controls:
LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW for movement.
SPACE to jump.
'A' to shoot.
+/- for volume.
0 to mute.

The mechanics you have are pretty solid, but I would've loved to see more art, enemy variation, powerups, etc. Congrats on your first completed game!
The art for your player character is nice. Played for a couple seconds before it lagged out and I fell through the floor. Grats on your first Ludum Dare and on not giving up.
I had some problems with the lag when near the enemies, but good attitude on sticking it through and making something! That's the ticket!
Fun game, but it was quite laggy when you get tagged by an enemy. Nice concept, can't wait to see the finished product!
No interesting mechanics, story, or artwork. Didn't play it past the second or third wave.
Hum! Can be improved, but it seems to me that it's a good start. Thx ++
Nice game. Noticed i started to get performance issues after playing for awhile though.
Some memory issues make it laggy pretty fast. It's a great attempt for a first LD! Good job!
The game is completed with needed resources. Good job!
But there's something wrong when i get close to the red box, can you check it?
a solid start to something, needs to use all that vertical space!
Went pretty laggy after a while, the animation for teh main guy is cool. Would of been better if had something other than red boxes to shoot at.
Good game! like the pixel art. It's game is very suit the theme. Even if the theme is "Entire Game on One Line." :)
Thanks everyone. I would have liked to been able to finish the game, but next time. HaxeFlixel's web build is in beta, so the web version has issues. The regular OS builds have no lag issues and render the text properly.
Nice game, well done on completing your first LD... I think a more platforms and dropping enemies would work better (think super crate box)
Nice work
Congratulations on your first entry :D Keep them coming!
I don't know about HaxeFlixel but I think that the lag experienced when an enemy hits you is probably caused by the constant collision check. The easiest way to solve the problem (I think) could be destroying the enemy GameObject on collision, while still reducing your health.
You can enhance it and make a PostDare release! :D
Oh well its okay for the first try :) Some people with more experience are doing worse games in some jams (me, this ld was not the best one)... Next time you'll do much better ^^
Had some issues with lag but seems like an interesting concept. Even if you didn't finish, try to finish it soon - don't let it slip!
Hi there. Think maybe killing enemies needs to be a bit easier, is not really enough time to click both left and right. Like the sounds and fire effect. Good job!
congrats on finishing - game needs some work tho - nice effort

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Nice game like how you can jump over the enemys so them reaching you is not the end. However i could not play for long as it lagged.
