The Winter is here and the angry snowmen have awoken from their sleep.
Your hero has dealt with them in the past. Can you survive their endless attacks once more?
Your goal in Winter Blast is to kill the enemy snowmen for as long as you can. You move around the arena with WASD or the arrow keys, and you aim with your mouse and Left Click to fire.
The game gets progressively harder and you can unlock a shotgun-type weapon later on.
Post Mortem:
- I wanted to do more weapons but ran out of time.
- I wanted to make more power-ups but ran out of time.
- I wanted to make more enemies but guess what? I changed my mind.
I made the game using the PlayCanvas WebGL engine, PhotoShop for the UI and textures, NanoStudio and Audacity for the music.

Cool game with nice graphics. It's very challenging and fun to play!
NOTE: Game will look / play better if you go full screen by clicking on the full screen button on the bottom or by playing here: apps.playcanvas.com/vaios/ld31/winterblast
Great game! I was very impressed by the smooth controls and gameplay. The audio is nice too.
Hm, opens a site and then nothing happens. When I click the logo, their website with a lot of games opens. Where's your game?
Nice, runs smoothly and looks the part.
I just can't help wondering how jet propelled snowmen don't melt :)
Hey @yodamaster - if that happens maybe the game didn't load for you. Try again here: http://apps.playcanvas.com/vaios/ld31/winterblast
Haha @wooltech yeah that's a good point! Magic snowmen I guess?? I was just looking for an excuse to use particles!
Looks good, nice music and effects. Good challange! Smooth controls/movement. I enjoyed it!
The game is fun if playing as intended. The audio is great. My biggest problem with the game is that by using total time as a score system, the best strategy is to not shoot anything and stay on level 1.
@unnamed1334 thanks for the helpful comments! Yeah that's true I didn't think about that. To be honest the score system was very last minute. The good thing is that I could easily change it to be your total xp or level :D
Good enemy variety. Really like the snowman propellers - hilarious :P
Haha very addictive game, I would've wanted to see some kind of a leveling up-thing here but in any case very fun!
I really like the snowmen with reactors ^^.
It's pretty polish and fun. I just would have like an higher fire rate ...
Level progression somewhat uneven, but otherwise, it's totally playable for a game made in such a short time. Keep up the good work!
Hey @Rocketship thanks for the comments! Yeah there is XP and Levels and I wanted to do perks and skills per level but just didn't have the time :D
@hectorhon yeah each level requires 20% more xp than the last level (totally arbitrary percentage).
Great music and I like this type of gameplay, the atmosphere is very cool
Hi there. Really nice presentation. Fairly generous until about 90 seconds in when gets pretty impossible quickly, reached 120 seconds in the end. Like the music as well as little touches like the jet exhaust on the player character. Good job!
Game is Nice to Play. But I would Liked it More, if would get Some score or bonus on killing enemies..
This is a solid game: I like that there's a progression of enemies, wave arrangements, power ups, and so on. This kept the game fun for longer. Well done! I'd like to see a bit more gameplay innovation and a stronger application of the theme.
Funny and challenging game. Graphics and sound are nice too.
Well done!
This is a pretty solid little shooter. A couple of areas to improve: The bullets being fired were hard to see, and the results of shooting felt insubstantial. It's also hard to tell what the upgrades and collectibles are doing.
Snowman wasn't the theme, no matter, you can make a single screen game with a snowman in it ;)
Nice one.
Hey @asobitech! Yeah I know but the snowman was the theme on everyone's hearts I think :P
This is definitely my favourite LD game made with PlayCanvas. Very cool!! So polished.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Great game for 48 h! It's fun and all thematic! Good use of the screen space.
