Super Ultra Fishing Adventure Deluxe

by scias - Compo Entry

You're fishing, that's it.

Controls: Mouse movement, left click, scroll

There was so much content that i wanted to add, but due to obvious time constraints i had to prioritize.

Note: you're using the scroll in game so if you don't want to roll of the page when you've caught a fish you should click the "Web" link bellow:)

EDIT: I've provided an option to toggle fullscreen in the embeded version, and I have also made a small update implementing an optional goal.
My thanks to user @drNick for the tip. Update is in this link ONLY:

Casting is a little bit awkward, and some punctuation that needs fixing, but apart from that, I like it!

Nice little game! I like how you can use the mouse gestures to cast and reel. Are the fish randomly selected? Because by throwing at (roughly) the same place, I managed to caught very different fishes. Any, good work for creating a complete game in such a short time!

"You're fishing, that's it" Perfect summary of this game. Its simple, it works and its fairly charming. And its also one of those ideas that you could easily expand upon to make it a lot of fun, like advanced weel reeling and harder to catch prey. Good job ^^

I like the comment above^
I captures the feeling of fishing perfectly and if you added upgrades and goals that would make for a fun little game, good job.

My only suggestion is add some sound FX or light music

Thems be some big fish! Scroll wheel to reel in is a nice touch.

I like it! There's some awkward elements, but using the scroll wheel to reel in the fish was really satisfying! If it had some ambient nature sounds I imagine this game would be really relaxing.

Hi there. Doesn't work well in the IFRAME - scroll wheel (Chrome/W8.1) starts rolling down the page after a while...

Not too bad really!

The throwing mechanic is actually interesting.

Source of improvement is to implement some strategy over where to throw the line. You could see waves or bubbles in a part of the pond, and if you hit that part, you would get good fish, otherwise, bad small fish.

You could have made the player catch junk sometimes, like the canonical old boot, for humor.

You could have added some sort of challenge, like "catch X kg of fish before the day ends".

A technical improvement: in the future, add ".preventDefault()" in your mouse event handling functions, so that the page won't scroll down, that is specially annoying in the embedded version.

seems like chances of catching a fish in this game is 100% guaranteed. I got one every time in my 5 attempts. May be a little unpredictability will make the game more fun.

Nice little entry. With scrolling being an integral part of the game, it might be best to leave it only with the web option so as not to scroll down on this screen after catching a fish. Also I like that it tells you to scroll down to reel it in but it told me after I started reeling it in after reading the description.

The sounds and graphics are nice and simple and I am sure a lot more could be done to make it a nice challenge like scrolling slowly and then really fast for certain fishes, etc.

It works fine, nothing to say about that : you launch, you reel, and you get a fish. Animation is good, and graphics are correct. But... Well, I'm not a big fisher, but normally you don't get a fish at each launch, and even if you catch it, you are not sure to get it on your fryer tonight. What I mean is that a little more challenge would turn this funny game in something you would play enought to get that big fish you've seen, and who escaped each previous times... ;)
That said, it's fine, I just mean that more challenge would be a little better. ;)

Casting is a bit awkward at times, but the game itself is amusing. (I loved abusing hyperscroll on my mouse though! I always wanted games that use scroll wheel more often!)
Definitely would be nice to see you polish it, could work on mobile too :D

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
